BRAGG CHRISTOPHER W., age 29, of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Troy, Michigan died suddenly on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. He was born in Royal, Oak on May 30, 1983 to Terry L. and Diane W. (Henderson) Bragg. Christopher was a 2001 graduate of Troy Athens High School, and also attended Western Michigan University and the University of Toledo. He was currently employed as a Sales Representative with Verizon Wireless. He is survived by his mother, Diane W. (James E.) Goodsmith; father, Terry L. Bragg; sister, Julie L. Goodsmith; brother, Edward J. Goodsmith; grand-parents, Dr. Worth W. (Anne L.) Henderson and Virginia D. Bragg as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. GALPIN HELEN MARIE (STEVENSON) October 17, 1915. December 16, 2012. Helen passed away quietly at her home. An amazing woman, a role model to her family and friends, and a life well lived. Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., daughter of Bertram and Maryanne Stevenson (Cook), and younger sister of Douglas Coney Stevenson. After college, she married Richard Galpin and after World War II they moved to Detroit so Richard could complete his Pediatric training. A devoted mother, she raised four children: Kenneth, Peter, Lindley and Sheila. She was a graduate of UBC (Vancouver, British Columbia) in Social Work. After raising her family, she returned to graduate school and received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan). After divorce, she returned to B.C., had a full career as a medical social worker at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC and retired to Comox on Vancouver Island. A woman of incredible spirit, an avid traveler and sailor her adventures were legendary: solo-trekking the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan, sailing to the Queen Charlotte Islands, road trips to Mexico were but a very few of these. Her love of art and music and a compulsion for community service led her to found art centers, jazz festivals and kite festivals in the Detroit area as she raised her family. She is survived by her children: Peter, Lindley, and Sheila. Her grandchildren: Karen and Amy Wilmot, Thyra Carnes and Nedra Meredith, Akira and Mikiko Galpin. Her great-grand-children: Walter, Ella, Daniel and Samuel. A devoted lover of animals she was companion to furry-feathered-family to her last days. GAULKE CHARLES HERMAN He passed away on December 20, 2012, after a long illness. He was born June 19, 1935 in Brownton, Minnesota, to Leonard and Bernice. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth and Edie. He is also survived by his wife Gail, whom he married in 1994, along with her children, Debbie and Alan, and three grandchildren. He attend Winona State University from 1956 to 1960. He worked in public education from 1960 to 1995 in Madison Heights, MI as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, athletic director and principal. He was in the US army nine years, three active and six reserve, US navy 35 years, all reserve. A military memorial is being planned for Spring.

SHERMAN LAURENCE "LARRY" died December 26. He is survived by his wife Linda and son Scott, a piano student at MSU, and sister Barbara Barron. Larry attended Boston University; he was a noted Civil Rights and housing activist, developing Boston's Rent Control law, a national model. After moving to Michigan in 1985, he remained active in political issues serving as President of the AFL-CIO's Union Label Committee for Macomb, Wayne and Oakland Counties.
