DALESSANDRO DARLENE MARIE (DOGORIN), 71, died on January 29, 2013. She joins her loving husband, Philip, of 43 years for eternal rest and peace in Heaven. Darlene was the daughter of late George and Leona Dogorin. She was born and raised in Allen Park, Michigan. After meeting her husband Philip, they moved to Akron, Ohio where they resided for many years. She will be remembered most as an incredibly sweet womana loving mother, sister, and friend. Darlene was a devoted wife, caring lovingly for her husband in his years of need. Those years of love and strength symbolize her dedication. She was very proud to be a beautician many years ago in her mother's beauty shop. After moving to Ohio, Darlene created a beautiful home life for her children. Whether she was baking Thanksgiving pies or planting spring flowers, she took pride and found joy in the little details that made others feel welcomed and loved. Darlene was a long-time parishioner of St. Sebastian Parish and more recently a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Cuyahoga Falls. She was a past President of Sanctuary Society of St. Sebastian and an active member of Christ Child Society. Darlene will be very dearly missed by all who knew her. Especially, her son, Patrick (Amy) and their girls Mia Darlene and Evelyn of Akron; her daughter, Lisa (Keith) and their girls Lily, Sophie, and Grace of Akron. The girls will miss their Mimi and loved her with all their hearts. She is also survived by her loving sister, Marianne (Kurt) Carpenter of Clovis, CA; and sister-in-law, Theresa (Frank) Fodale of Commerce Township, Mich.; and brother-in-law John (Dawn) Dalessandro of Taylor, Mich.; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He attended All Saints Academy & High School & graduated in 1941. He lived his entire life in Detroit until 1998 when he moved to Washington State to be near his daughter. Bernard was a Layout Inspector in the auto industry until his retirement in 1987. He was a member for many years of St. Monica Parish and St. Monica Dad's Club, the Redford Elks Lodge #2097 & a life member of VFW Post #2645. During World War II he served in New Guinea & was a Bronze Battle Star recipient. KNOCH ARTHUR LOUIS JR. January 29, 2013. Age 83. Son of the late Arthur Louis Knoch, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth (Zimmerman). Preceded in death by his sister Barbara. Survived by his wife Mary Alice; daughter Kathleen (Jim) of Ann Arbor and their children Andrew and Malia; son David (Cheryl) of Kentucky and their children Daniel, Shannon and Brendan; sister Doris and brother Richard (Kathy), all of Florida. Arthur was born in Detroit and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. He graduated from Fordson High School in 1947 and retired from Michigan Bell after 47 years of service. As a veteran of the Korean War, he served in both the Marine Corp Reserves and US Air Force. He had fond memories of his time while stationed in Alaska. Arthur wed his lovely wife Mary in 1953. They lived briefly in North Carolina, Dearborn and Wayne, Michigan before settling in Westland for the last 41 years. Arthur and Mary were married just seven months shy of 60 years. Arthur was a long-time Detroit Tigers fan. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. His hobbies included stamp collecting, genealogy and bowling. He was an avid reader of history with presidential history a particular favorite. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and had many fun vacations with Mary, her sister Claudia and brother-in-law Jerry. Funeral Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at the L.J. MATCHULAT ERNEST G. Passed away January 21, 2013. Born in Dearborn, Michigan. Graduate of Fordson High School (1950) and Wayne State University (BA and MA in Education). A lifelong musician (sax-clarinet), Ernie was a 60-year member of the Detroit Federation of Musicians. Long active in the Detroit music scene, he led and performed with his own big band and jazz combos, and was a 25-year member of the Detroit Concert Band. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he performed with the notable 7th Army Symphony in Germany, where he met his beloved wife Anna-Maria. A faculty member at Madonna University and educator for 40 years, he was a band and orchestra director at various schools in the Detroit, Highland Park and Livonia school systems before retiring in 1994. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Anna-Maria. Cherished father of Michelle (Michael) Hosmar, David, Christel and Danielle. Adored grandfather of Alex, Andrew, Abby and Jack. MEYER ROBERT ERNEST SR. of Allen Park, on January 30, 2013 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Irene (Bachor) for sixty years until her death in 2009. Dearest father of Tom (Maralee) of Ypsilanti, Barbara (Joseph Lucas) of Dearborn, and Robert (Shirlee) of Portland, Oregon. Devoted grandfather of Rachel (Jim), Sarah (Christopher), Benjamin (Tasha), Mary, Joseph, and Jacob (Nicole) Meyer; Elizabeth (Austin), John (Beth), and Robert Lucas; and Emily (Marcus), Alyson (Jared), and Michael Meyer. Much-loved great-grandpa to Katie, Emma, and Natalie Forsyth, Xavier Bell and Kaidin Meyer, Jack and Sammy Lucas, and three more great-grandchildren expected shortly. Dear brother of Ruth Burton and the late Alice, Marie, and Mildred. Bob was the son of Ernest and Alice Meyer of Dearborn. He was a graduate of Fordson High School. He served proudly in the 246th Combat Engineers in WWII, landing at Normandy on D-Day plus three at the age of nineteen. He was seriously wounded in the Battle of the Bulge while his company was constructing bridges and clearing mines, for which he received the Purple Heart. After five months in the hospital, he was reunited with his company and was about to be shipped to the Pacific Theatre when the war ended. Bob and Irene were among the earliest members of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, and he greatly treasured his parish and the friendships he made there in the Cabrini Dad's Club. He was a tool and die maker by trade, and used those talents in his retirement to create beautiful woodworking and scroll saw projects which he generously shared with family and friends. He was still creating projects and enjoying his Dads' Club lunches and Saturday morning "breakfast club" with his buddies as recently as December. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and long-time neighbors. MOORE ELOISE LILLIAN (NEE BUMSTEAD) On January 24, 2013, a resident of Springwell Assisted Living, Mt. Washington, Baltimore, MD; beloved wife of the late C. Maitland Moore and devoted mother of Paul Maitland Moore and his wife, Hope Keller; loving grandmother of Emma Angeline Maitland Moore. Mrs. Moore was the daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude Bumstead. Eloise was born in Pickford, Michigan, and graduated from Ypsilanti Teachers College (now Eastern Michigan University.) She then taught elementary school in Sault Ste. Marie where she married Mr. Moore in 1948. Their son, Paul, was born in 1950. The family moved to Huntington Woods in 1955. Mrs. Moore taught second grade at Burton Elementary School, where she was known for her skill and compassion, from 1955 until she retired in 1975. She then traveled in Asia, Russia and Europe. She continued to live in Huntington Woods until 2003 when she moved to Baltimore. Services and interment will be private.
