HERBERHOLZ LAWRENCE F. Currently of Traverse City, passed away February 15th in Bonita Springs, Florida; after courageously fighting various medical problems. His family rallied to his comfort and aid in the recent weeks and those efforts are a testament to the strength that monumental love can inspire. He is survived by his wife Joan; four children Lynne, Larry, Jeff and Jan; eight grandchildren and a great many close friends. He was pre-deceased by his brother Jack, and is survived by his brother Richard. Larry enjoyed following Notre Dame, the Big Ten and Catholic League high school sports. His trips to Napa Valley could never top his enjoyment of sitting on the deck and shooting-the-breeze with friends and family. He was a giving person with midwestern values and Catholic ideals. His rise during 30 loyal years at Ford Motor Company was mostly the result of a work ethic instilled by his Detroit area upbringing and his parents, Jake and Katherine. Just seven weeks before Larry's passing, the family enjoyed each other's company at his 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration. Within a week of the Anniversary dinner, he was hospitalized to start a fight he had no chance of winning. Even in his final days, he echoed the words of Jimmy Valvano "never give up." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of two charities Larry appreciated: Catholic Relief Services (www.crs.org) or The V Foundation for cancer research (www.JimmyV.org).
