He was a Battalion Chief at the time of his retirement in 1977. Mr. Adams served his country as a United States Army Staff Sargent in the European Theater of WWII. Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian Kapochius Adams. Together they had five children, Cheryl, Rosemary, Robert, James, and Christopher. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl; his parents, one brother and two sisters. HUGHES ALICE MAE (GALLOWAY) 83, May 9, 2013 from complications of Parkinson's Disease at Oakhaven Manor in Howell, MI. Formerly of Dearborn, MI. Alice was born to Ivan and Ruby (Lamar) Galloway on August 5, 1929 in Detroit. She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Howard, her sister Shirley Clair, and her granddaughter Ella Chan. Alice is survived by her four children, Janet (Roger) Shoemaker, Jack (Mary), Todd (Joyce), and Sally (Albert) Chan. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Brian (Althea) Haines, Jacob (Ana), Aaron (Brenda), Shawn, Scott, Eric (Adrian), and Adam Hughes, and Rachel and Rebecca Chan, as well as five great-grandchildren. Our mother was the embodiment of grace and kindness. We will never forget her black-haired, blue-eyed beauty, her gentleness, and the security she provided us. There was never a tear that wasn't brushed away, a scraped knee that wasn't kissed, a bad dream that wasn't soothed, or a smile that wasn't met in kind. We are also very thankful for the outstanding care she received from her aides at Oakhaven, particularly Jenette, Maureen, and Mimi and in her final days, the angels of Residential Hospice.
