GEURIN JUDITH ANN (GIVEN), died Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Gaylord, Michigan, after a long fight with Alzheimer's Disease. Judy was born June 5, 1939, at her family's farm house in Crossville, Illinois. She was the only child of Fred A. and Laura (Carr) Given. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, Robert Geurin, her daughter, Quinanne, husband Jim, and three granddaughters, Bryn, Zander and Devin Short of Porterville, California. Judy lived for many years in Fraser, MI before retiring and moving to Northern Michigan. She spent her career teaching English for Roseville Public Schools. Well versed in Literature and passionate about writing, she touched the lives of many students with her wit and enthusiasm for learning. Judy enjoyed traveling with her husband, Bob; meeting people, seeing new places, reading from her numerous guidebooks and trying new food. Her family and friends always appreciated her for her gift of storytelling, turning even the most ordinary into hilarity. Following cremation, Judy will be buried in Crossville at a later date. MAYVILLE DONALD SR. Age 80 Westland, MI. September 23, 2012. Don was born on January 29,1932 in Detroit, Michigan and was the 2nd son of Frank and Myrtle Mayville. He joined the service at age 17 in 1949 which he retired from in September of 1973. After his retirement from the service he also retired as a Union Teamster Truck Driver in 1989. He was a member of the Chosin Few of the Korean war and spent three tours in Vietnam where he attended college in Bangkok Thailand in Radio Communications. Don loved bowling, attending Veteran Reunions and traveling. Don is survived by his wife Jennene, his children Don Mayville Jr., Mike Mayville, Danniel Mayville and Samantha Harris, his sisters Shirley Crandall and Sandra Marcum, along with 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. McGUIRE MICHAEL PATRICK Passed away at age 60 on September 20, 2012 at his home in Terra Linda after a courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents Donald and Dorothy and father and mother-in-law Bill and Renee Grant, and is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Phyllis Grant McGuire, children Kathryn (Michael) Alioto, William (Brooklin) McGuire and Patrick McGuire. Adored grandfather of Ava Rose Alioto. Dear brother of Mary, Jeanne and Theresa McGuire. Michael was born on January 19, 1952 in Kalamazoo, Michigan and raised in the Detroit area. He graduated from Detroit Cathedral High School in 1970 and Wayne State University in 1974. Michael met Phyllis while attending college and they married and moved to San Francisco in June of 1976. He graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1979. Michael was an athlete and an environmentalist, loving to run in the open space that surrounds his home. He completed 22 marathons, including Boston and New York. He was an active member of the San Rafael community for the last 25 years, serving as president of both the Terra Linda Orcas Swim Team and the Marin Swim League. He worked with the Santa Margarita Neighborhood Association on the Del Ganado Creek restoration and helped spearhead annual clean-up days. In addition to his love for the hills of Terra Linda and Marin County, he loved spending time at his home in Hanalei on the North Shore of Kauai. He will be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, his great sense of humor and passion for life. A celebration of Michael's life will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tiburon Yacht Club, 400 Trinidad Drive, Tiburon, CA.
