BATTANI MELVIN F. Age 88 of Sterling Heights previously of Prudenville passed away Wednesday September 15, 2010 at Sterling Wood Senior Living in Sterling Heights Michigan. Melvin was born on December 15, 1922 in Detroit Michigan to Dario and Lucille (Maison) Battani. He married Corrine B. Lang in 1944. The couple moved to Prudenville in 1982 from Detroit. Melvin enjoyed going to Shenanigan's to sing Karaoke; he played in the Houghton Lake shuffleboard and pool leagues, he was a member of the Houghton Lake Elks and enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Melvin is preceded in death by his wife Corrine in 2001 and a son Edward and brother in- law Ralph Lang. He is survived by his son Patrick (Jean) Battani, daughter-in- law Cyndi Battani, grandchildren Kelli (Brandon) Frost, Kimberly Battani, Kevin Battani, Shannon Battani, Cristen (Ray) Fish, Ryan (Meghan) Battani, Gregory (Molly) Battani, step grandchildren Michael Griffin and Amanda Griffin, and great grandchildren Autumn Battani, Addison Battani, Ian Fish, Tyler Fish, Logan Fish, Riley Battani, dear friends and relatives Veronica Battani, Marge Lang, Meg (Jerry) Moore, Vicki (Tom) Blanchard. CRAIG ARCHIE EWING Age 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 13, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Betty. Loving father of Stephen and Jane, and dearest grandfather of Matthew. Mr. Craig is also survived by countless friends who enriched his life. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he lived in Michigan most of his life. Mr. Craig attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was also a Navy Veteran who served in WW II. He retired from Giffels Engineering after many years as a professional mechanical engineer. In retirement, his passion was oil painting and he will be remembered for his love of life, family and friends. A private memorial gathering will take place at a later date. DALE JAMES FRANCIS Age 81, passed away on September 14, 2010 after a long battle with vascular disease. "Jimmy", as he was known, was a loving husband to Arlene, proud father of Debora, James, Sharon, Sue, John, Darlene, David, Patrick, Mary, Kathy and step father to Pam, Kim and Kelly. He was also a cherished grandfather of 29 and adoring great grandfather of six. He will also be remembered by his dear sister Linda. He was preceded in death by his father John, his mother Grace, his brother Norman and sister Arlene. Jimmy was born on May 18th, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. He was a devout Roman Catholic and a resident of Redford Township for most of his life. He enlisted in the Army in 1947 and was stationed in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey for two years. He was a hard working man, many times working three jobs to support his large family. The majority of his career was with Russell Hardware in Birmingham, Michigan working many high profile jobs over 39 years. He was a huge University of Michigan football fan since attending his 1st game in 1941 and many more over 70 years. Go Blue! Jimmy's life will be celebrated at a memorial service planned for October 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 17116 Olympia, Redford, Michigan.
