ASTFALK EDWARD G. Longtime resident of Grosse Pointe Park passed away at home October 27, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born on July 11, 1926 in Fort Pitt, Pennsylvania. His parents were Edward Earl and Ann G. (nee French) Astfalk. Ed is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Simpson), his children Cathy Simon, Anne Carpenter, Ed, Dan, Tim, Martin, John, Chris and Peter. He is also survived by his sister Doris Wilcox of Bridgeville, PA, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation Tuesday 3:00-8:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:00 p.m. at Chas. Verheyden Funeral Home, 16300 Mack, Grosse Pointe. Funeral Wednesday, in state 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass 10:00 a.m. at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 1401 Whittier, Grosse Pointe Park. MEDVEGY EDWARD J. Age 68, of Temperance passed away on Thursday after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 16, 1944 in Detroit to Andrew J. and Helen (Boros) Medvegy. After attending Monroe High School, Edward proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed by Ford Motor Company as an electrician, retiring in 2006. Edward is survived by his children, Michael and Lorraine (Chris Glahn) and his longtime companion, Mary Ellen Hemmeter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. A memorial gathering will be held at Hungarian Rhapsody in Southgate on Sunday, November 4 from 4-7 p.m.
