McFADDEN RICHARD EARL, died peacefully in his South Lyon home at the age of 87, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Richard was born to the late Earl and Beulah McFadden on January 1, 1925, in Wyandotte, Michigan. After graduating from Wyandotte High School, where he held track records that stood for over 20 years, he played football for Michigan State before enlisting in the Navy for the duration of World War II. When the war was over he returned to Michigan and married Ila Schwochow, his High School sweetheart. He then became a journeyman electrician, started his own steel slitting business, began a family, bought an eighty acre farm in South Lyon and raised registered black angus beef cattle. Richard is a life member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge, member of the South Lyon Methodist Church and former Sunday school teacher, former member of the South Lyon State Savings Bank board of directors, and former member of the South Lyon Kiwanis. He helped established the South Lyon Football Boosters Club and was a member of the South Lyon community for 62 years. Richard was an avid SCUBA diver, wilderness explorer, hunter and fisherman. He was a commercial lobsterman in the Florida Keys for five years before returning to South Lyon for health reasons. Richard is survived by his wife Ila and four children: Carol Fleischer and husband Mitchell, Robert McFadden and wife Dolores, Loren McFadden, Janine McFadden. He is also survived by three grandsons: Ethan Fleischer and wife Rachel; Daniel Fleischer, and Robert McFadden and wife Whitney, and granddaughter Caroline McFadden. RASPBERRY JIMMIE C. Age 91, November 9, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Cleo Raspberry for 45 years. Dear father of Kennith Raspberry, Rose Raspberry-Fisher and Lisa Raspberry, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Jimmie worked for Ford Motor Company (1942- 1974) as a Bargaining Committeeman and for the City of Romulus (1955-1997), elected in 1955 as Romulus Township Constable and later appointed to police officer. Elected 1961 Township Trustee and used his leadership to help Romulus become a city on May 25, 1970. Best know as the "Peoples Man" blazed many trails for others to follow. Jimmie was the first black political official for the City of Romulus and was honored with a local park being named after him on July 29, 2000. RECKINGER REVEREND ROBERT ANTHONY Ordained Roman Catholic Priest, June 2, 1951 died peacefully with family at his side November 12 at Angela Hospice. Fr. Reckinger, age 87, was an author, licensed pilot and friend to many. He is survived by two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Dearborn at 11:00 a.m., Saturday November 24th.
RICKARD CYRIL "RICK" Age 84, born on December 6, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan passed on November 12, 2012 in White Lake, Michigan. Beloved husband of Barbara Rickard for 63 years. Rick retired after 25 years as a Detroit Police Detective Sergeant; he was also known as the neighborhood "Handy Man". Rick and his wife Barbara were 36 year long time residents of Tarpon Springs, Florida.
