Avid lovers of the outdoors they fell in love with the Smokey Mountains and hoped to retire to the lush mountains of North Carolina. BOZEK EDWARD Age 93, passed away on October 27, 2012 in Palo Alto, California. He was born February 12, 1919 in Detroit to John and Sophia Bozek. Ed lived his entire life in the greater Detroit area until 2011 when he moved to Palo Alto to be near his family. He was a U.S. Army WW II veteran serving in the South Pacific, Philippines and Aleutian Islands. He worked for Ford Motor Co. for over 30 years. He is survived by his daughter Nadine (Bob) Jagunich; granddaughters Allegra (Mike) Petras and Whitney Jagunich; great-grandchildren Olivia, Mickey, Dustin and namesake Edward, his dear friend Dorothy Gorman, and brother John (Clare) Bozek. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernadine Bozek in 1976. McKEEHAN LOWELL G. Age 84, of Livonia, MI passed away November 19, 2012. Husband of Mary M. McKeehan, beloved father of Brenda (Harold) Todd, Donald McKeehan, Dennis (Donna) McKeehan, predeceased by youngest son Raymond "Ray" McKeehan in 2004. Survived by sisters Azalene (the late Elmer) Teague, Wilma (Harold) Faulkner, and Joy (the late James) McCormick. Predeceased by brother William "Bill" McKeehan (the late Freddie Mae) in 2008. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. McKeehan proudly served his country in the Korean War, and received the Purple Heart military award for injuries sustained. A lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans, the VFW, and the Masons, his very active D.A.V. affiliation included serving as the Michigan State Commander, National Executive Committeeman for the 10th District (Michigan), Zone Commander, Employment Committee Member, Chapter Service Officer, and as Aide-de-Camp. Mr. McKeehan also served as a Board Member on the Michigan Veteran's Trust Fund for several years, was commissioned an honorary Kentucky Colonel by the Governor and Secretary of State of Kentucky, and also enjoyed membership with the Kentuckians of Michigan social organization for many, many years. READ MARY L. loving wife and mother, died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 21, 2012. She had suffered from emphysema and heart disease for many years. She would have celebrated her 80th birthday on December 7. Mary was born in New York City and raised in Amityville on Great South Bay. She graduated high school from The Mary Louis Academy in Jamaica, N.Y., in 1950 and attended St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. She loved the ocean and traveling, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She married Fred M. Read Jr. on August 6, 1955, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Amityville. During their 57 years of marriage, they lived in New York, California and Japan before settling in Michigan and raising a family. Mary and Fred lived in Dearborn Heights for more than 40 years and retired to Canton in 1999. Mary was an active volunteer for her children at Hillcrest, Riverside and Divine Child schools and an active parishioner at St. Linus Catholic Church, especially in the ministries to the hungry. She worked for more than a decade at Cherry Hill Baptist Church. In Canton, she enjoyed the friendships she made as a member of the Red Hat Society and Pioneers Club. Those who met her considered her a treasured friend, and she will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Marguerite N. Lunny, and sister, Katherine Dwyer. She is survived by her husband, her four children; Peggy (Dave Fudala), Sean, Jan (Greg Smith) and Ginnie (Jana Robbins); her six grandchildren: Jason (Karen), Sam and Keanan Smith; Ben and Morgan Fudala; and Eliza Neumann; her brother, James E. Lunny Jr. (Carolyn); her sister, Marguerite Dolan; and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 23, at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home, 45100 Warren Road, Canton, Mich.
