LEMMON MERLIN 78, of Romulus, passed away on December 3, 2012. Merlin was born April 20, 1934 in Swan Creek Twp, Ohio. He was the son of the late Joseph C. Lemmon and Marjorie Mae (Cornell) Lemmon. Merlin was preceded in death by his parents. Merlin enjoyed going to live auctions, woodworking, and refinishing antiques. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Merlin will also always be remembered for his love of the railroad. In 1969 Merlin coached the Romulus Little League in its inaugural year. The team went on to win the Little League Championship. SMITHSON ROSE KLOIAN November 20, 1923 November 22, 2012. Passed away in Santa Rosa, California at the age of 89. A native of Detroit, Rose was an accomplished pianist. She met the love of her life, Gene Smithson while studying music at Wayne State University. Rose was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. She and Gene married in 1944 before his deployment to Europe in WWII. During the next 64 years together they pursued careers and were devoted to raising their four children. Rose helped institute Gerber Baby Foods first business and research libraries in Fremont, MI. She later worked for the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory Library, and retired in 1984 after 11 years with the Fresno State University Library in California. Throughout their lives Rose and Gene pursued their interests in music and crafts of all types and gave their children every opportunity to do the same. They also devoted their time and musical talents to their church. Rose took up painting in her retirement, filling her family's homes with delightful artwork. Rose is predeceased by her husband Gene who passed away at age 85 on 9/8/2008, son Gregory Jay Smithson who passed away at age 62 on 2/4/2012, parents Alice and John Kloian and sister Charlotte Hollis. She is survived by her children: Jeff Smithson, Pat Parker (Ric) and Cindy Moore (Jim); sisters: Stella Menton (Norman), Alyce Day, Ann Glusac, Virginia Goodrich (John); brothers: John Kloian Jr, J. WOLF HAROLD G. "PETE", JR., of Cleveland, Tennessee, quietly passed away on November 28, 2012, surrounded by his family at the Hospice of Chattanooga. YEE MOON GA, died December 1, 2012. He was 97 years old, and a resident of Rochester Hills, Michigan; former resident of Southfield and Detroit, MI. Moon was born February 26, 1915 in Canton, China. Moon immigrated to the United States as a young man in 1939. He first lived in Ohio and then relocated to Detroit, MI. During this time, Moon also returned to China to bring his wife, Yue Chu, to their new home. Moon worked in the laundry business in Detroit, and worked for Hudson Motor Company during World War II. After working at Hudson, he opened his own laundry business in Highland Park, MI, and acquired a second location in Detroit. Moon then worked at a noodle factory, and eventually was a chef at the Ming Palace before he retired. Gardening and travelling were two of Moon's passions. He and his family would often spend weekends on Belle Isle when his children were young. Moon also enjoyed visiting relatives in Toronto, Hong Kong, and China. He and his wife also took a great vacation to Hawaii. Later in life, Moon discovered the beauty of Up North Michigan, and liked spending time there. He also loved baseball, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Moon was the husband of Yue Chu; father of Phillip (Mary), Philley (Colina), John (Karen), Howard (Julie), and Harry; grandfather of Melissa (Joe), Stephanie, Jacqueline, and Matthew. Funeral Service Thursday 12 Noon at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road (between Maple and Big Beaver). Family will receive friends Wednesday 3-8 p.m. Interment White Chapel Cemetery.
