ANNIS MICHAEL CAULFIELD Age 67, went home to the Lord on November 24, 2011. He had been battling (ALS) Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was a graduate from Notre Dame University. He had a professional career as an engineer and numismatic professional. Michael is survived by wife Rebecca Gepner and mother Mary Lubbers. He also is the father of two wonderful children, Katie McLoughlin and Brian McKowell as well as a step-father to Casey Gepner and Kelly Gepner. Michael is also survived by siblings; Ted Annis, Mary Katherine Somers, Alicia Caulfield, Georgia Thomas and Max VonKlein. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; Felix, Jeremy, Zayne, and Capriana many nieces, nephews, family, friends. We all love you Mike and we will always remember you in our hearts and mind as the loving man you always were. He was an engineer who helped develop the first domestic automotive disc brake system while employed by Kelsey-Hayes in Romulus. He was active at the Plymouth Historical Museum and Risen Christ Lutheran Church. An active sailor, he served as a Commodore for Portage Yacht Club in Pinckney and sailed 18-ft Interlake Class sailboats until age 85. HENDERSON CORINNE G. of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2012, at Hope Hospice, in Fort Myers, Florida, after a long period of declining health. She was 76. Corny, as she was known to her friends, was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1936, to Bena and Art Groscop, and still keeps many friends in the Detroit area. She was a graduate of Kingswood/Cranbrook Girls High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and later graduated from the University of Michigan. It was at the University of Michigan where she met and married Robert (Bob) Henderson. Together, they brought their two sons into the world, Frederick Arthur "Fritz" Henderson, and Douglas Lawrence "Doug" Henderson. To her last day, Corny took great pride in how her two sons became loving husbands and fathers. Corny enjoyed a wide social circle, with friends reaching as far away as California, Massachusetts, Washington and Texas. After moving to Florida in 1995, she continued her many volunteer and social activities, including her work at the Pink Bazaar at Lee Memorial Hospital, her involvement in the Fort Myers PEO organization, and the Garden Club. It was in Florida where she met her long time companion, John Tatu. Corny is survived by her son Fritz, her daughter-in-law Karen, and her two granddaughters Sarah and Emily; and by her son Doug, her daughter-in-law Jane, and her grandson Bobby and granddaughter Stephanie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Bena, as well as her daughter Sarah. SAZYC JOSEPH "JOE" "JOEY" III 22, son of Rev. Joe and Jeanne Sazyc of Ann Arbor, MI. slipped into eternity on December 3, 2012. Loved by all who knew him, Joey was an accomplished athlete and musician, even while battling cancer for much of his life. After an elite youth career in baseball, he played for Henry Ford Community College and Siena Heights University. Later he enrolled at Wayne State University where he pursued studies in music technology and became a proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Several churches and ministries in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area benefited from his musical talents for many years. In 2011 he began a recording career in the electronic genre and released two projects that are now receiving airplay around the world. In 2012, he assisted the founding of the Dearborn Justice House of Prayer, pioneering new forms of musical accompaniment for prayer and worship. Along with his father and mother, Joey is survived by his sister Stephanie, brother James and a host of family members and outstanding friends. SCHANZ LARRY KARL, D.O. Passed away December 2, 2012 in Garden City, Michigan. He was born February 19, 1935 in Ann Arbor, MI to Karl and Helen (Raymond) Schanz. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Yvonne (Drow) Schanz of Northville, MI; his brother Raymond of Ypsilanti, MI; and his four children Perry (André Wilson), Ann Arbor, MI; Diane (Steve Miller), Sequim, Washington; Donald, Livonia, MI; and Carol, Livonia, MI. Larry graduated in 1961 from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Surgery in Kirksville, Missouri, practiced as a Certified Family Physician for 35 years in Westland and Livonia, MI, and was much beloved by his patients. In the late 1960's/early 70's, he raced an MG Midget in Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) races (and won regularly!) He volunteered as team physician for the Cherry Hill High School football team for several years in the late 1960's, and as track physician for SCCA regional races in the early 1970's. After retirement, Larry loved spending time outdoors in northern Michigan in summer, and fishing and crabbing in Florida each winter, as well as building and flying RC airplanes. He loved good vodka, good wine, good food, and salvaging perfectly good 5-gallon buckets from the side of the road. The family wishes to thank the staff at Garden City Hospital in Westland, MI for their kindness and dedicated care. A memorial service will be held at a date to be determined. SHULAK DR. FREDERICK B. Graduated from Michigan State University in 1958. Following graduation, he served as a captain in the former Air Force Veterinary Corps for two years from 1958-1960. Stationed in Newfoundland and Northern Maine, his duties were that of Preventive Medicine Officer and base veterinarian which included the care of the base sentry dogs. He founded North Branch Animal Hospital in Southfield, Michigan in 1966 and practiced small animal medicine. He was best known for his expertise in avian medicine. He was a charter member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and was the Michigan Liaison for more than 30 years. He was a Treasurer of and a life member of the Southeastern Michigan V.M.A., a life member of the Michigan V.M.A., and an honor roll member of the A.V.M.A. His practice was AAHA accredited for 30 years. In 1986, the Southeastern Michigan Veterinary Medical Association presented him with an award for his "Outstanding Contribution to Clinical Practice" regarding avians. A gifted singer and actor, he participated in musicals, comedy, and drama in community theatre for more than 40 years. He leaves a collection of Inuit Sculpture with an endowment to the Michigan State University Museum. He also leaves two endowments to the M.S.U. Veterinary College of Veterinary Medicine: one to further student interest in avian and exotic medicine and the other for veterinary student scholarships. He is survived by his brothers and sister-in-law, Allen Shulakoff, Charles and Wanda Shulak; aunt, Lee Meyer; cousin, Adelle Meyer. Also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
