PHENEGAR THOMAS FRANKLIN December 25, 2012 Mr. Thomas F. Phenegar, age 76 of Clinton Township, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon at his home in Clinton Township. He was born on August 10, 1936 in Bucyrus, Ohio, the son of the late Norman E. and Helen (Leuthold) Phenegar. On July 12, 1957, Tom was united in marriage with Lois Maday. Lois passed away on January 21, 1984. Later, he was united in marriage with JoAnn Franklin on December 9, 1989 at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in Allen Park. Tom was a carpenter and president of Pheney Construction Company. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, boating and camping with his family. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and a member of Eagles and the American Legion. Mr. Phenegar is survived by his wife of 28 years, JoAnn; five children, Thomas (Susan) Phenegar, John Phenegar, Chris Phenegar, Christy (JohnAlan) Holzerland and Richard (Rebecca) Franklin; six grandchildren, Nicole Phenegar, Justin Phenegar, Julia Holzerland, Amanda Franklin, Thomas Franklin and John Holzerland. James was preceded in death by daughter, Carol on 12/21/11, and son, David on 3/25/10, as well as three step-sons, Leigh, James Jr., and Garth Syme. He was a loving grandfather to Phil (Sheena), Matthew (Ashley), Amanda (Bill), Elizabeth, Brittany, Clayton, Preston, Breezie, and several other extended family grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James is also survived by brothers, William (Dianne) and John (Eileen) Reardon and sisters, Marlene (Ray) Chiavazza and Eilene Parpart. He was preceded in death by sister, Rose and brothers-in-law Edward and Ken. James will also be missed by his large family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. SIMPSON GRACE PATSY age 79 of Bitely, passed away Friday December 21, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 22, 1933 in Detroit, MI. the daughter of George and Marion (Howieson) Christofaro. She was married to the late Bobby Simpson for 54 years. They lived in Detroit and St. Clair Shores before retiring and moving to Bitely, MI in 1996. Grace started working for Kresge at age 14 and retired from Kmart 50 years later. She went from being a city girl to a country girl upon retiring. She enjoyed reading a good book, tending her flowers and puttering around outdoors. Grace looked forward to working the local elections and assisting voters. She loved her winters in Florida and especially walking the beach and striking up conversations with fishermen. Grace is survived by one son; David (Georgia) Simpson of Baldwin, one daughter; Jackie (Jack) VanderMeulen of Twin Lake, five grandchildren, Madison, Merannda, Bryana, Jami and Joel (Jackie), five great-grandchildren, Jaylynn, Dayton, Drew, Ella and Annabelle, one sister, Linda (Ron) Solterisch plus four sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends, Leroy and Laurie Jackson.
