FERGUSON LOWELL D. Age 77, Grosse Pointe Park and Gaylord, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 in Gaylord. Born December 18, 1934 in Lafayette, IN, to John E. and Catherine S. (Douglas) Ferguson. Received bachelors and masters degrees from Ohio State University and had done PhD work at the University of Illinois. He worked at Bendix Research Labs and General Dynamics Land Systems retiring in 2002 as a project manager. He worked extensively on national defense and NASA projects and was involved in early space travel and Apollo projects. He was actively involved at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, had been Clerk of Session and an Elder. Preceded in death by his first wife Margaret in 1982, he married Janet (McDonald) Baetz, May 17, 1986, she survives. He is survived by sons Kent (Stefanie) Ferguson, Las Vegas, Mark Ferguson, Utica, Craig (Katherine) Baetz, Grosse Pointe Farms and Robert Baetz, Grosse Pointe; six grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. Colleen was a member of Mandarin Lutheran Church, where she assisted in preparation for weekend services. She also enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family. NOWICKI GERALD After a difficult battle with cancer Gerald "Jerry" Nowicki passed away on August 27th. Some people walk through life and never get to enjoy it, not Jerry, he danced his way through. He had a wonderful life; retiring from Chrysler's Warren Truck Plant after thirty-five years and relocating to Las Vegas with his adoring wife, Cynthia where he enjoyed 12 great years. He was preceded in death by his mother Sally and sister Sue. He is survived by his loving wife; sister Nancy (Larry); four children; his beautiful daughter Jami and wonderful sons Anthony (Reyne), Robert, Jerry Jr. (Morgan); seven grandchildren, Carson, Andrew, Kayla, Alexis, David, Kevin and Brian; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and their families. SCHAEFER LAWRENCE JR. Died September 3, 2012. Was born July 31, 1930, the son of Lawrence Schaefer, Sr. and Dorothy Wilson Schaefer. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Jean Schaefer and Dorothy Humphrey. He attended Dearborn schools and graduated from Eastern Michigan University. A veteran of the Korean War, he worked for Ford Motor Company from which he retired after 45 years, the last several in the Ford Parts and Service Division. A life-long Catholic, he was a member of Dearborn Divine Child Parish and more recently, celebrated liturgy with the Saint Kenneth community in Plymouth. He is deeply mourned by his wife of 32 years, Gail (Navarre Zurawski), children; Kristine Garanich (Andrew), Julie Schaefer, Gail Edwards (William), Gregory Schaefer (Andrea), step-children; Suzanne Belding, Sheila Malone (James), Paul Zurawski (Richard Hengel), Stephen Zurawski (Dena), Matthew Zurawski (Lynn), Clare Zurawski, Andrea Zurawski (Jeremy Lewis), 16 grandchildren, three great-grand-daughters, his former wife Margaret, and brother Robert. He was blessed to have spent many happy years with family and friends at the family cottage in Charlevoix. As he was nourished by word and sacrament on earth, may he delight at the eternal banquet of heaven.
