Past member Grosse Pointe Sail Club, EngineeringSociety of Detroit; long time member of Experimental Aircraft Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Former police/fire volunteer for the City of Huntington Woods. Member of Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church. Former application engineer for The Coon Devisser Company, later co-owner of Pump Services Corp. Kelly was loved by all who knew him, and always had a kind word or humorous remark for anyone he encountered, despite his increasing infirmities, which he faced with great courage. He never lost his tremendous sense of humor, love of learning, and curiosity about the surrounding world. His vibrant personality radiated cheerfulness, intelligence and spirituality. He will be much missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church at a date to be announced.

COCHRAN HOWARD HENRY of Brentwood, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Hattie Agnes; sons, Howard Cochran, Jr., Hugh (Ana Paula) Cochran, Harold (Celeste) Cochran; grandchildren Benjamin, Nathaniel, Josiah, Gabriel, Charis, Davita, Jubilee, Tikvah Atalie; brother, Robert Cochran; nephew, Jeff (Donna) Reid and niece, Margaret (Ron) Landry. Howard began his professional career in banking and soon rose to senior executive positions with Michigan National Corporation, which had 400 bank locations. He had presidential appointments from Presidents Ford and Carter, and served as Regional Director of the National Alliance of Business. In 1984, he and his family moved to Tennessee where he served as an executive with Vanguard Ventures. In his retirement years, Howard delighted thousands of children representing the spirit of Santa Claus across the United States. Throughout his life, Howard served in various capacities of church leadership as a deacon, trustee, and sponsor of the Youth Department. He was also a member of the Good News Singers at Brentwood Baptist. The scripture that has directed Howard and Hattie's life together is found in Psalm 27:1: "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" To honor and celebrate his life, Dr. Mike Glenn will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, January 8th at 3pm in the Baskin Chapel at Brentwood Baptist Church. DAWSON JOHN ROBERT "BOB" Age 90 Of Ann Arbor, recently Frankfort; formerly Marquette, Lansing, Ypsilanti, Dearborn, and Watervale. He died peacefully January 1, 2011, at his home. Bob graduated from Lansing Central High School ('38) and Michigan State College ('42), where he was a Phi Delta Theta, edited The Spartan, and received a BA in Journalism and History. He pursued graduate studies at Northwestern University and the University of Michigan. Bob was a decorated veteran of World War II, when he proudly served his country as a 1st lieutenant in Patton's 3rd Army, 5th Armored Field Artillery Group. He received four awards, including the Purple Heart. Following the war, Bob was the Director of Public Relations for the Kaiser-Frazer automobile corporation. In 1956 he opened the advertising firm of J. Robert Dawson and Associates. From 1965-1985, he served as the Director and then Vice President of Public Affairs at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. He taught public relations courses at Cleary College and Wayne State University. Bob was very active in his community, serving as President or Chairman of the following organizations: the Historical Society of Michigan, the Dearborn Historical Commission, the Dearborn Federal Credit Union, the Dearborn YMCA, the Dearborn Board of Education, the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, the Dearborn Rotary Club, the Ypsilanti Rotary Club, the Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce, the Discover America Travel Association, SKAL International, the Wayne County Charter Commission, and the Western Wayne United Community Service. Born in Marquette in 1920, Bob married Clarice Carr in 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Hazel Dawson, as well as Clarice, and a son, David Leland Dawson. Bob married Sarah Luedders in 1968 and was preceded in death by Sarah as well. He is survived by his children John (Judith) Dawson, Laurie Dawson, and Elizabeth (Jon) Jacobs; sister Ann Bisbee; and grandchildren Scott (Becky) Dawson, Kelley (Miguel) Salas, Leah and Spencer Dawson, Jacob Roggenbuck and Patrick McDonough, and Peter and William Jacobs. Great-grandchildren are Olivia and Nadia Salas and Ava Dawson. Bob was beloved by all, known for his great intelligence and wry wit. He was a gifted storyteller and writer, a patriot, a loyal friend, and a loving, gentle man. Bob was a most recently a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Beulah. A memorial service will be held there in the spring, with ashes to be interred at Blaine Township Cemetery near Watervale.

DeWULF RUTH was a first generation American born in Detroit , Michigan March 17, 1933 after her parents Frank and Hildegard (Schmiedchen) Feldhofer and sister Liselotte immigrated from Germany. Ruth, passed away in Roseville,California on December 16, 2010. GREEN DONALD PETER 92 of Naples, Florida and Pointe Aux Barques, formerly of Franklin, Michigan, passed away 29 December 2010. Son of the late John Edward and Wilhelmina (Zernechel) Green. Predeceased by wife Violet Wallace, survived by daughters Jeri (Stan) Sutton, Patti (Donald) Brundirks; grandchildren Tracy (Paul) Schorn, Don Sutton, David Brundirks, Wendy (Steve) McDowall; great grandchildren, Robert Masters, Wylie Sutton, Haley Sutton and Rowan McDowall. As the youngest son of the founder of the John E. Green Plumbing and Heating Co, Don spent his entire career with the company first as a pipe fitter, then estimator, moving to Secretary-Treasure. In 1974 he became President and in 1985 Chairman of the Board until his retirement in 2000. Don helped lead the John E. Green Co. to become one of the largest mechanical contracting companies in the midwest. A memorial service will be held at the Franklin Community United Methodist Church, Franklin, Michigan at 11:00am, Febuary 1 2011.
