ALLEN WILLIAM "BOB" Age 86 of Birmingham and owner of Matthew Hargraeves Chevrolet in Royal Oak which he purchased in the 1960's, passed away May 13, 2012. Bob grew up in Detroit and graduated from Cass Tech High School and attended Wayne State University. He served in the Navy during WWII in PT boats throughout the Pacific Theater. Bob and his wife Iris lived in Orchard Lake from 1964 1987 and from 1987 present they resided in Birmingham. Bob had a strong commitment to his family and the communities that he lived and worked in. He was Mayor pro-tem of Orchard Lake in 1972, very active in the Boys and Girls Clubs of Royal Oak and supported Christian Ministries. He loved his family, golf and traveling. He also enjoyed his membership and playing golf at Red Run Golf Club. Survivors are his wife Iris, sons Tom (Mary Louise) Allen and Brian "Skip" (Carrie Roach) Allen, grandchildren John, Michael, Mark, and Spencer. During her tenure at Ford, Carolyn distinguished herself in a series of key appointments in which she supervised community affairs, corporate strategy, sales and marketing media relations, and international public affairs. A trailblazer and catalyst for change, Carolyn earned the distinction of being one of the first executive-level African-American women at Ford. Carolyn was a member of Tots and Teens of America, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, National Association of Black Journalists and Public Relations Society of America, and a lifetime member of the NAACP. She also was the recipient of numerous honors and accolades. Carolyn was greatly loved and will be forever remembered. KLANN DONALD E. Age 78, of Onaway, passed into his heavenly home on May 12, 2012 while at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. Don was born April 5, 1934 in Clare County, the son of Otto and Alma (Fanslau) Klann. On May 30, 1959 in Detroit he married Ruth List. An Army veteran, Don proudly served 37 years on the Detroit Fire Department, retiring in 1994, after rising to the rank of Senior Fire Chief. He was a natural athlete and born golfer, and coached his sons for many years. He also had a true fisherman's heart, and was a member of the Black Lake Association. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Ruth, two sons, Todd (Tami) Klann, and Troy (Kelly) Klann, and was a precious grandpa to Lauren, Nathan, Marissa, Krystle and Chase, and "Pop-Pop-Pop" to great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Dexter, a dear brother to Bernice (Elton) Engel, and Wilbur (Joyce) Klann, and uncle to many nieces, nephews, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert, a nephew, Jim Klann, and tiny grandbaby, Klann. A celebration of Don's life is being planned in the near future. SCHWARTZ JOSEPH W. Born to Anton and Katherine Schwartz in 1917, entered into rest at the age of 94 on May 12, 2012. Raised in Pittsburgh, PA he settled in Grosse Pointe Shores in 1951. Joe served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He enjoyed a career at Schwartz Boring Company in Detroit after graduating from Carnegie Institute of Technology (Pittsburgh, PA) in 1940 with a BS Mechanical Engineering. Wiedling Dick age 68, of Brown City, previously of Sterling Heights, returned home Monday, May 14, 2012. Richard George Wiedling born October 3, 1943 in Dearborn to Raymond and Gertrude Wiedling. Grew up in Dearborn and graduated from St. Mary's High School. Married Pamela Christina Combs April 5, 1991 in Sterling Heights. Dick retired as a Master Plumber - Local 98. Dick is survived by wife: Pamela Wiedling of Brown City; daughters: Shannon (A.J.) Parker of Sterling Heights, Lisa Bruton of Columbiaville, and Cherie (Brian) Snider of Shelby Township; grandchildren: Timmy, Zachary, Alex, Kurt, Peter, Ryan, and Jackson; mother-in-law: Audrey Hewelt of Utica; brothers: Fred Wiedling, Tom Wiedling, and Bob Wiedling all of Dearborn; sisters: Roseann Bihun, Claudia Barnes, and Joan Rossi all of Dearborn.
