BAYER FRANCIS J. 84, passed away on September 8, 2010 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak with his sons by his side. He was born July 3, 1926 in Butler, PA to George and Mabel Bayer. Graduated from high school and later served in the US Army. He moved to Michigan in 1948 and made MI his home. He retired from IBM in Troy, MI. Was a member of St. Tim's Catholic Church; survived by his sons, Kevin and Keith: two granddaughters', Tiffany and April, two great-grandchildren, Sage and Leyton; many loving family members and friends. A dedicated Neurologist, Dr. Guidice practiced for several decades in the Metro Detroit area and was a founding advisor to the Michigan Head Injury Alliance (BIAMI). JOHNSON ZELMA MAE Age 94, passed away at home on Saturday, September 18. Zelma was born in Evansville, Indiana December 22, 1915 but later moved to Detroit, Michigan. She retired from General Motors where she worked as a secretary for 31 years. She moved to Indianapolis in 2004 and spent the last six years with her son Lowell and his wife Peggy. Zelma was a strong willed woman who was born ahead of her time. At many times in her life she worked two jobs. She adopted a son when it was unheard of for a single woman to be allowed to adopt. She bought a home in 1958 when home loans were not given to single women. Zelma was witty and intelligent. She read voraciously and wrote poems in her spare time. After her retirement, she traveled at least once a year. Zelma had a beautiful singing voice and could have been a professional singer but instead devoted her time to her family and her cat, Misty. Zelma is survived by her son, Lowell Johnson; grand daughters Kimberly Hendrickson, Wendy Grumley, Toni Hiers and Deanna Banker; and great grandchildren Colin, Kerra, Lilly and Fionna. Zelma will be interred at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Viewing will be at the Chapel of the Flowers on Saturday, September 25th from noon until 1:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will follow at Marinelli's Restaurant, 4924 Rochester Road in Troy.
