COYE DOROTHY H., age 96, passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan, April 15, 2013. She is survived by nieces Susan Harris, Jan Coye and many great-nieces and nephews. She was born in Sturgis, MI and lived most of her life in the Detroit area. She received a diploma from the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing, and from Wayne State University College of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with distinction, and a Master of Science in Nursing. She served in the US Army Nurse Corps United States, Central Pacific Theater, Japan Army of Occupation. Following discharge from the Army after WWII she returned to Henry Ford Hospital where she was a staff nurse, head nurse, supervisor and assistant director of in-service education. After graduation from Wayne State she was employed as Director of Nursing Education at William Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak. She had a long and distinguished career in the nursing profession and she received many honors.She was active in many state and national nursing organizations. She was considered a pioneer in nursing continuing education and staff development. She made many contributions in those areas through presentations and service on national and state nursing organization committees. OLJACE GERALDINE of Lakeland, Florida passed away Saturday, April 14, 2013. She was born January 16, 1930 in Ecorse, Michigan. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years; Edward Oljace; and six loving children Gerald (Rebecca) Oljace of Northville, Geralyn (Steve) Carlson of Pleasant Ridge, Gail Oljace of New Boston, Gwen (Greg) Blasses of Livonia, Glory (Ernie) Everhart of East Bethel, MN, Gaye (Craig) Williams of Livonia, and eight grandchildren (Juliann, David, Jacob, Alex, Adam, Chad, Amy, Nick); her sister Dolores Lee of Allen Park, sister-in-law Janice Maurice of Trenton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Eugene Maurice. A celebration of life service will be planned in the upcoming months in Michigan.
RAMM NORMA LEE "NORM" July 12, 1931 - April 12, 2013. Of Rancho Bernardo, passed away peacefully at the age of 81, after a battle with dementia. She was a devoted wife, mother and faithful friend. Born in Monroe, Michigan to Harold Herman Lorenz and Grace Viola (nee McGill) Lorenz, the family then moved to Detroit, where Norm met and married her high school sweetheart, Clarence "Clar" Kenneth Ramm. They were married for 62 years and had two sons, Kenneth Harold Ramm and John "Jack" Michael Ramm. The family lived in Madison Heights, MI for many years until Norm and Clar relocated to Rancho Bernardo, California 21 years ago. Norm attended Western High School in Detroit and received her associate's degree in business from Oakland Community College. Her work history included work as an administrative assistant at Lawrence Technology University, a licensed insurance agent and later a volunteer at both Sharp and Pomerado Hospitals in the San Diego area. Her interests included playing clarinet, piano and organ. She was an avid seamstress and a superb cook. Norm is survived by her husband Clar and two sons Ken and Jack. In addition, she was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren; Eric, Emily, Nicholas and Denise. Norm was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Grace; and her sister Jeanette "Jan" Grace Witek. On April 26, 2013 at 1:30 p.m., a memorial service is scheduled at the Psalm Chapel within White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery. The cemetery is located at 621 W. Long Lake Road, Troy, MI 48098.
