MAYNARD THOMAS RICHARDS "DICK" IV, a long time resident of Commerce Township, died on June 5, 2013 after suffering a heart attack. He was 65 years old. He is survived by Karen, his beloved wife of thirty-five years; daughter, Dawn (Sam) Kuehl, sons, Tom (Sherri) Hermans, Russ Hermans and Tom (Annie) Maynard; grandchildren, Avery and Emma Kuehl, Elaine and Holly Hermans, and Jay and Max Maynard. He also leaves brothers, Pat (Michaele) McDonnell, Paul (Donna) Maynard, sister, Helen (Ray) Lipke and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, work associates, pinochle club friends, and many, many other dear friends. PICKL RUTH ELIZABETH, 87, died Sunday June 2, 2013 in Greensboro, NC. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 7 at 1:00 p.m., at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Ann Arbor, MI, with a reception to follow. An elegant and sweet lady, Ruth was born November 16, 1925 on a chicken farm in Kingsville, Ontario. She graduated from University of Western Ontario and spent her working years as an R.N. in public health in the United States. She belonged to the Pi Beta Phi sorority and was the Alumni House chairman in her later years at the Michigan Alpha Chapter where she received the Golden Arrow for her service. Historic preservation and antiques were her passion and she was involved in saving the Kempf House Museum in Ann Arbor, founded two chapters of the Questers: in Jackson and Ann Arbor, and served on the board of the Washtenaw County Historical Society. She became a naturalized citizen before she married Joseph Pickl, Jr. on August 11, 1951. She is survived by her daughters, Linda of Greensboro, NC and Barbara of Middleton, WI, and granddaughter Bonnie Belew Mellish of Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Jr. and sons Jim and David. A vibrant woman, she was active most of her life. She loved nature and animals and spending time at her beloved home on Big Lake in Northern Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kempf House Museum, 312 S.
