LYNCH RHEA KAY (NEE SCOGGIN) passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Rhea was born in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Gretta (Fisher) Renshaw on January 9, 1938. Rhea was a graduate of Detroit Mackenzie High School in 1956. She then attended Hillsdale College where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1958, Rhea married James R. Scoggin of Detroit. Jim preceded Rhea in death in October of 1997. Together they lived in Howell and had three children, James T. (Cynthia Fowler), Patrick F. (Christine Huntington) and Wendy L. (John Lichtenwalter) with nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Patrick and Travis Scoggin; Samantha, Alissa, Tyler and Casey Scoggin; and James and Jake Lichtenwalter. After staying at home to raise children for the first several years of their marriage, Rhea returned to Eastern Michigan University to get her Master's degree in Business Education. She taught business classes and managed the high school co-op program in the Howell Public School System for 25 years. After her husband's death in 1997, Rhea relocated to Naples, Florida. She was active in several charitable and social organizations. Rhea was very involved with First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs where she frequently volunteered. She enjoyed working in the Church's Thrift Shop, helping with Vacation Bible School registrations and going to various assisted living communities to give communion. Rhea also volunteered at the NCH North Naples Hospital. After her first battle with cancer in 1982, she became active with the American Cancer Society's Reach for Recovery program, which assisted patients immediately following surgery. She worked throughout her retirement years in the concierge's office of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Naples, Florida. In her "spare time" Rhea enjoyed reading, shopping, helping others and especially visiting her children and grandchildren in Michigan and Georgia. MONAZYM ARLENE V., 92, of Venice, Florida died on June 28, 2012 at HarborChase Assisted Living Community surrounded by her family and extended family at HarborChase. Arlene was born April 23, 1920 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. She lived the majority of her life in Michigan with her husband James who preceded her in death in 1998. Both came to Venice, FL in 1991. Arlene was a Registered Nurse retiring after 47 years. Her primary place of employment had been Cottage Hospital of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where she had been instrumental in developing the first IV team. One of her proudest accomplishments as a nurse came early in her career when she enlisted in the army and proudly served her country in World War II in the European theatre 500 yards from the battleground. Survivors include a daughter Patricia LaRocca and son-in-law Lawrence LaRocca of Venice, FL, a son James and daughter-in-law Phyllis of St. Clair Shores, MI; four grandchildren, Lori Dupuis (Jamie) and their children Haley and Hannah of Utica, MI, Amy Osterbeck (John) and their children Aysia and Jayden of Mt. Joliet, Tennessee, Meghan Riley of Phoenix, Arizona, Nikole Riley of Dearborn, MI. ORGAN JOHN M. "JACK" 75, Born July 10, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 in Dublin, Ohio. Jack was a Detroit police officer for 30 years and retired in 1988. PAKLEDINAZ MARTIN Tony Award-winning costume designer, died peacefully in his Manhattan apartment Sunday, July 8th, surrounded by friends and family. He was 58. He was born on September 1st, 1953 to James Pakledinaz and Dorothy (Haight) Pakledinaz. He grew up in Sterling Heights, Michigan and is survived by six brothers and his sister, nine nieces and nephews, and three godchildren. His love of theatre started at age 13 when he volunteered with the Macomb County Community Players at the Barn Theatre. He won his first Tony Award for the 1999 production of "Kiss Me Kate", and his second for 2002's "Thoroughly Modern Millie". PETERS HELEN (COLWELL) was received into Christ Jesus on June 28, 2012. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 9, 1938 to Harold Douglas Colwell and Catherine McPherson Colwell. Beloved mother of five children: Jeanne (Dave) of San Diego, Laura of Ithaca, New York, Ronald (Jody) of Houston, Matthew Douglas (Heather) of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Jeffrey of Rochester. Her children and nine grandchildren (Alexa, Zachary, Andy, Charlie, Spencer, Madison, Harvey, Catherine, and Kyle) were the greatest joy of her life, along with University of Michigan football and gardening. A long-term resident of Rochester, Michigan, she graduated from Oakland University (having previously attended U of M in Ann Arbor) and ran her own accounting business for twenty years. Her beautiful voice and piano playing inspired a love of music in all of her children. Famous for her quick wit and puns, her memory will continue to bring cheer to all who know her. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Richard Charles Roukas. Margaret was also preceded in death by her parents, Neshan and Hasig Haroian, and her well-loved sister, Ida Folker and her loving daughter-in-law, Nina Sailor Roukas. Margaret was also preceded in death by her beautiful nieces, Jeanine Grant and Susan Hitzroth. STIBITZ CHARLES N. "CHUCK" Joined St. Peter's golf team on Friday, July 6, 2012; after a long brave battle with lung cancer at age 73. He was born in Frankfort, MI. on January 18, 1939. He has a Bachelor degree in Metallurgy from Michigan Tech. 64'. Chuck retired from General Motors after 28 years. He was a long time resident of Berkley and a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church. He was past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Council 3830 Queen of the Holy Rosary. Chuck is survived by his devoted wife Jennie of 50 years, three children Kelly (Ken) Schneider, Carrie Anne Stibitz, George P. (Suzette) Stibetz, five grandchildren: Ashleigh, Amber and April Stibitz, Arin and C.J. Schneider and one great-grandchild Little Kenny. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Charles F. and C. Isabella Stibitz and his brother G. Thomas (Tom). Chuck is survived by three siblings Dr. Henry (Florence) Stibitz, Mary Jane (Harry) Putney, Gerald (Gerry) (Jody) Stibitz, sister-in-law Susan (Sue) Stibitz. There are many nieces and nephews in the family. WINN BETTY JEAN, 88 of Caseville, MI died on Saturday, July 7th at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw with two of her sons at her side. She was born in Detroit, October 8, 1923 to Alice and Alger Clark. She attended high school (Chicago School for Girls) and then, Merot College in Connecticut. Betty married her husband, Roy R. Winn and they had four children, Roy Jr., Pamela (Spears), Mark, and Stewart and were divorced after 14 years of marriage. Betty moved to Caseville in 1984 where she loved being near the water, admiring the view of the bay. During the last couple of years, her neighbors, Tina and Lucy, and Sandy and Marty had become like family in their daily kindness and generosity. And Betty loved her family - especially her grandchildren, Amy (Art) Trakhman, Sarah Spears, Nicole (Eric) Rood, Melissa, Jennifer (Michelle), and her great grandchildren, Evan and Sage Trakhman and Finola and Dahlia Rood. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and by the many birds who visited her well stocked feeder each winter.The family is planning a memorial service and celebration of life, date to be determined.
