Born January 6th, 1932 in Hamtramck, Michigan, Richard was the youngest of 5 boys born to Witalis and Marie Marcinkiewicz. He leaves behind brothers, Eugene (Judy), the late Tom (Gilda), the late Henry (Lillian) and Robert (Grace) and many nieces and nephews. Richard served in the Air Force from 1952 until 1956. In 1962, Richard married Dolores and became a dedicated and supportive father to her five children. The (late) Linda Taylor, Debbie Adcox, Sally Adcox, the (late) David Carden, and Mary (Scott) Gaskill. Their family grew to include two more children, Rick Marcin and the (late) Karen Marcin and many grandchildren. Richard retired from Wilson's Automation as a draftsman and purchasing agent. MARCINKOWSKI CHRISTINE MARGARET (PIERCE), age 86, of Richland, MI, died Wednesday evening, April 3, 2013 at the Evergreen Senior Care Center of Springfield, MI, following a lengthy illness. Christine, the daughter of John W. Pierce and Deannie Ellan (Workman) Pierce, was born on March 17, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, TN. She retired from Detroit, MI to Pawtucket, RI and moved to Richland in 1999. Christine was the Manager at Sanders Confectioners of Detroit and retired after 35 years of faithful service. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Gull Lake (Augusta), MI. Christine enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, just about anything being in the Outdoors, but her true passion in life was her grandchildren. In 1948, in Detroit, MI, Christine was united in marriage to George F. Marcinkowski and he preceded her in death in 1973. Surviving is her daughter, Rena E. Thomas) Fians of Hyannis, MA; her son, George P. (Pat) Marcinkowski of Richland; six precious grandchildren, Joanne E. (Greg) Mikol, Kathryn L. (Michael) Howes, George Timothy Marcinkowski, Michelle Fians and the twins, Caitlyn and Eryn Fians; by three great grandchildren, Chloe, Elena and Marissa Howes and by numerous nieces and nephews. Christine was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers. MINKWIC LEONARD S. JR., of Grosse Pointe Farms, celebrated his 88th birthday on January 19, 2013, with close family and friends. He died on March 29, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Joyce (nee Hunt) and his son, Mark (MJ). He was pre-deceased by his son Chad and by three brothers, Donald, Robert and James. This generous, loving man, "Uncle Mink," will be missed by his nieces, Susan Pospiech and Kim Beasinger and by nephews, Phillip, Jim and Jeff. Many cousins and especially three young grandchildren, Nabilah, Bailey and Gloria Jean and special friend Renee Henderson mourn his passing. Mr. Minkwic attended Detroit Denby High School and graduated from Detroit de LaSalle High School. He served in the Infantry in the European Theater during WWII, after which he worked in his father's business while attending Wayne State University. He then began a distinguished career as an educator with the Detroit Public Schools. His Northeastern High students remember his dramatic re-creations of historical events. He later served as Department Head at Central High School and Principal at Cooley High and Murphy Middle Schools. Mr. Minkwic then was elected Vice President of OSAS, the Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors. In this capacity he served the needs of approximately 1,200 members and was re-elected several times. He was a persistent jogger and swimmer and a determined golfer. REMICK LEONARD R. 86, of Inverness, IL, formerly of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. Born February 25, 1927, he passed away April 5, 2013. He began as a Hospital Administrator, followed by a successful legal career, where he served both as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Kalamazoo, as well as a private practicing attorney in Detroit. The final 28 years of his career were spent in dedicated service as the Deputy Treasurer of Wayne County, MI. In his leisure time, Leonard enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and dancing with Dolores. In his early years, he enjoyed boxing both in Detroit and the Army. RENTSCHLER DAVID, born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 2, 1933 to Carl and Grace Rentschler, he ended his journey here on Earth on March 14, 2013 and now has joined God in His Universe. He was loved and adored by his wife Dianne and his family, Douglas (Leslie), Amy Rentschler Hyde (Albert) and Brian. He is also survived by his loving brother Donald (Esther) and sister Susan Reiff (Allan). David was blessed by his grandchildren Lauren Rentschler, Charles and Samuel Hyde and Eve and Alex Breitmeyer. He was an exceptional man, respected by his many friends for his unwavering loyalty and integrity. He graduated from Detroit University School in 1952 and The University of Michigan in 1957. He was so proud to have earned two varsity letters in football at Michigan for the 1955 and 1956 seasons. Dave was very active in the community and served in many prominent positions within The U of M Club of Greater Detroit, The Varsity M Club, The Golf Association of Michigan, The Senior Men's Golf Association, The Lochmoor Club and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He spent many hours coaching Little League teams, most especially Red Barons and took great pleasure in working with young people. In recent years he looked forward to working with school children at the JAPC Tutoring Tree. He served as an elder of Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church, where he and Dianne were married in June 1958. After serving as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force, he returned to Michigan and started his business career at National Bank of Detroit. In 1973 he purchased the Wm Beyster Co., a lumber & millwork firm in Detroit. He owned and operated Beyster,Inc. until the building was sold in 2008 and at 75 years of age he started his retirement. He was a leader among his peers, a dedicated family man and a superb husband. SCHNOBLEN JOSEPH L. 73 of Hickory, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care Center. He was an 8 year survivor of pancreatic cancer. Born August 9, 1939 in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Bernadine Gietzen Schnoblen. Joe served 31 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves, retiring in 1988 as a Chief Petty Officer. Following his example, two of his brothers also served in the Navy and the three of them were often together during their annual active duty training. Following his retirement in 2002 as a process engineer from Andover Industries in Andover, Ohio, he relocated to Hickory, North Carolina where he was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and spent numerous hours assisting the Knights of Columbus on various projects for the Maryvale Sisters in Vale, NC. Although Joe was a man of few words, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and will be remembered for his quick wit and quiet wisdom. He was an avid woodworker and member of the Catawba Valley Woodcarvers. Joe was always challenging himself by learning new shop skills and techniques, and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with others as he patiently encouraged them to develop their own talent. Survivors include his wife of 50 years Patricia A. SEDESTROM DONALD ARVED, Livonia educator, died at his home in Livonia surrounded by his family on March 22, his 86th birthday. He is survived by Roberta, his wife of 49 years; his brother Robert of Chicago, Illinois; his four children: Martha Guthrie of Arlington, Virginia, Laurie Krell of Ypsilanti, Karin Wertheim of Berkeley, California, and John Sedestrom of Livonia; and eight grandchildren. STERLING AVERY L. JR. On April 5, 2013, Avery L. Sterling, Jr. of Alger, Michigan, died at the age of 72 in West Branch. He was an accomplished man who lived his life to the fullest each day. Beloved by family and friends, this great man will truly be missed. Out of respect for Mr. Sterling's wishes, no end of life celebrations will be held. Mr. Sterling was born on March 29, 1941 in Prairie duChien, Wisconsin and moved to Michigan in the 1960's. In 1974, he founded Michigan Optical, later to be renamed Sterling Vision Shoppes (SVS Vision). He was the innovator of the vertical integration model between optical retail and managed care that is currently used today throughout the optical industry. He had many passions including his North American Champion Percheron Draft Horses at Sterling Farms and later in life owned Lost Arrow Resort. Mr. Sterling loved the outdoors and as such was an avid hunter and fisherman who traveled the world. He was a lifetime member of Safari Club International, the National Percheron Association and the NRA. Mr. Sterling is survived by his wife, Diane, two daughters, Stephanie (Lance) Weisel and Denise (Jed Dowd) Sterling and one son, Avery (Autumn) Sterling, III. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, Ryan, Julia, Zachary, Holly, Hunter, Trevor, Addyson, Avery IV, who he enjoyed spending time with. He is also survived by his brothers, William and John, and sister Cheryl. Mr. Sterling was preceded in death by his infant son Greg.

She was a kind, sweet woman, and loved shopping and buying gifts for all of her loved ones. She always had a kind word for everyone. Due to her kind and loving personality, she was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
