SOWERBY PAUL "A man of great integrity dies". Those were the words used to describe Paul in the Lake Havasu Herald (page one headlines). Paul was a practicing attorney and spent the first 55 years of his life in Michigan. He was a graduate of Western Michigan and the Detroit College of Law. He re-located to Lake Havasu, AZ in 1999. He continued to practice law and was president of the non profit Community Health Foundation and the Mohave Bar Association when he died November 30, 2010. His parents were Fred and Eileen. SULLIVAN BRIAN 1924-2010 Brian Sullivan, an important figure within Detroit's legal community during the 1970s and 80s, passed away on December 17 after a long transition due to Alzheimer's. He would have turned 86 on New Year's Eve. Mr. Sullivan rose to the position of executive partner at the law firm Dykema Gossett before his retirement in 1991. During his tenure, the firm doubled in size and he served as Managing Partner from 1981-1989. He was known as a tough negotiator and a forceful leader. Much of his personal practice involved work with entrepreneurs and high-growth companies. As advocate, counselor and often board member, he took delight in their vision, courage and ambition. Mr. Sullivan grew up on Longfellow in Visitation parish, graduated from University of Detroit High School in 1942, and went on to Amherst College in Massachusetts. After one year of college, he enlisted in the Army and was assigned to training duties in Hawaii. He returned to Amherst College to finish his degree, before entering Harvard Law School. He joined Dykema Gossett and pursued his entire career as a member of the firm. In his leisure time, Mr. Sullivan enjoyed golf and sharing his passion for music, particularly for the melodic ballads of the great jazz masters. Mr. Sullivan and his wife Ann (Carswell) raised five children in Gesu parish and later in Bloomfield Hills. He served as president of the Detroit Golf Club and, a decade later, president of the Bloomfield Hills Country Club. In retirement, he lived on Walloon Lake and in Palm City, Florida, and finally in Carlsbad, California, where two of his daughters are raising their families. In addition to his wife, Mr. Sullivan leaves five children, Neil of Boston, Massachusetts, Jean of Carlsbad, California, Gwen of Austin Texas, Hugh of London, England, and Joan also of Carlsbad, as well as eleven grandchildren and his sister Pat Draper of Grosse Pointe Farms. He is predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Alice, and his brother, Hugh Jr. A memorial service will take place in January in Carlsbad, California. WEBB ELIZABETH PATZER Of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and aunt passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 after a battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Detroit, Mich. on May 14, 1928 to Caroline Elizabeth Prewett and Emil Charles Patzer. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Marjorie Webster College in Washington, D.C. She lived in Bloomfield Hills for many years where she was a devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt, and great friend. Elizabeth was a founding member and first president of the alumni association of her college. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society and Kensington Academy. Survived by her children Jefferson Bonson Webb, II and wife Staci of Fort Myers, Fla; Jerome William Webb Jr., wife Heather; granddaughter Gabriella Paisley of Naples Fla; and niece Patricia Patzer Lockey of Troy, Mich. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome William Webb Sr., brother, E. Charles Patzer Jr., and sister, Helen A. Host. Elizabeth loved to garden, discuss politics, play sports and raise her two sons. She was the ultimate host and lady in every sense of the word. WEISFELD NORMA (Nee Zeiger), 94, in Delray Beach, Fla.died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on December 23, 2010 after a brief illness. She was a 30-year resident of Delray Beach. Norma was born in Milwaukee, Wis., to the late Gussie Bronzweig Zeiger and the late Nathan Zeiger. She spent her childhood in Duluth, Minn., and Superior, Wis., before settling in Milwaukee as a teenager. After graduating high school, she went to work as a clerical assistant for Checker Express Co., in Milwaukee, owned by her brother-in-law, Robert Lewensohn. She married physician Samuel G. Weisfeld in 1938, and they had two sons. She spent about 20 years as a bookkeeper for Harley's department store in Shorewood. She and her husband were longtime members of Congregation Shalom, and Norma was active with Women's American ORT, mostly as a chapter treasurer. Norma and her husband had many friends in the Milwaukee area. They were skilled ballroom dancers and bridge players and, when the couple moved to Florida, she took up golf, and joined her husband in a creditable game. After his death, she volunteered as a teacher's aide in a local elementary school. Norma is survived by sons Glenn E. Weisfeld and his wife Carol, of Detroit, Mich.; Neil E. Weisfeld and his wife Victoria, of Princeton, N.J.; granddaughters Miriam Weisfeld and Alexandra Dowling and her husband, Bryan Dowling; great-grandchildren Lincoln and Indiana Dowling; many much-loved nephews and nieces, scattered around the country, who visited her regularly in Florida; and special friends Judy Oxman of Milwaukee and Bea Barron of Delray Beach. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Northshore Funeral Services, 3601 N. Oakland Avenue, Shorewood, Wis. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro will officiate. Interment at Spring Hill Cemetery, 166 S. Hawley Ct., Milwaukee.
