FULLER JAMES "JIM" ERNEST Passed away February 7th, 2012 in Florida. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Jim attended Bloomfield Hills High School and then the University of Michigan followed by many years in Detroit, then in Grand Rapids where he and his wife raised their family. Suzanne and Jim moved to Boca Grande, Florida in 1994. Jim was genuinely fulfilled by connecting with people for whom he cared, and there were many. His legacy thrives in how uniquely special he made every person around him feel. His wife, Suzanne, his siblings Bill and Joanie, his son Ted, daughter-in-law Jenni, daughters Brooke and Molly, and his grandchildren Cameron and Payton will miss him greatly, but will strive to carry on Jim's inherent optimism, his compassion, his integrity, and his generosity. GERBIG PATRICIA (GRIFFIN) Age 87, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Detroit and Port Huron passed away peacefully on February 24, 2012. Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Frank R. Gerbig, Jr. Her wit, story-telling, love and guidance will be missed by her family including children, Kathryn M. (Michael) Koval, Frank R. Gerbig, III and Corinne G. (David) Victor; her grandchildren, Michael Jr. (Kathleen), Patricia Ann, Karin and Daniel Koval, Cali Lynn Gerbig; David Jr., Timothy and Alexander Victor; great-granddaughter, Kerin Koval. She participated in her first grandchild's wedding, held her first great-grandchild and now is at peace with her husband of 60 plus years. Pat was a 1945 graduate of Marygrove College; after serving in many volunteer positions, and Chairman of numerous benefit committees, she later became President of the Alumnae Association, 1960-1963. Mrs. Gerbig received the "Mother Domitilla Award" for her activities in local and national charitable groups, in parish and archdiocesan movements. At the same time she served as corresponding secretary to the Christ Child Society (later President in 1967-69). Pat received the Christ Child Society "Woman of the Year" in 1989 award for her leadership and direction in inaugurating new projects and sustaining old ones and foreseeing possibilities to reach out into the community to develop new goals. When her attention was not focused on Marygrove or Christ Child, Pat chaired the 1981 and 82 Torch Drive Tri-County Community Campaign, chaired program advertising for the Metropolitan Opera campaign Detroit Association, chaired various events for the Detroit Council of Catholic Women, served and Chaired numerous Archdiocesan committees, served on the Board at Lourdes Nursing Home for 13 years, President for three years and chairman of the 25th anniversary. Pat also served on the first Archdiocesan Priest's Pension Board and was a member of the design committee for the Priest's Retirement Village. In Port Huron, Pat again devoted herself to volunteer and charitable works organizations throughout the community serving as President of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, as member of the Mission Committee of the Divisional Committee at Mercy Hospital and co-chaired with her husband, the 40th and 50th anniversary celebration of Mercy Hospital. Pat Gerbig was a part of every life that touched her; family, friends and co-workers. HAGERTY KATHLEEN A., Ph.D., Age 88, passed away on February 14, 2012. Kathleen was born on August 8, 1923, the daughter of the late William and Loretta Hagerty. Kathleen joined the Community of the Sisters of Charity on September 7, 1941 and remained a member of the Community until June 15, 1968. Kathleen loved education, both as a student and teacher. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the Teachers College at Mt. St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952 and in 1959, she received a Bachelor's Degree in English from Mt. St. Joseph where she established a Behavioral Sciences Scholarship. Kathleen later received a Graduate Degree in Sociology from the University of Detroit in 1965 and a Doctorate in Education from Wayne State University in 1973. Kathleen taught at Shrine High School in Royal Oak and in the Birmingham School System until her retirement in 1985. She was a long time resident of Troy, MI and was a devoted parishioner of St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Parish. One of the highlights in Kathleen's life was a 1993 trip to the Vatican where she had an audience with Pope John Paul II. Kathleen is survived by her brother, Charles Hagerty and her sister Rita Woida and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Maura Bagos, attorney Francie Novar, her caregivers Dorothy Carr and Sherri Kenworthy, and all her neighbors and friends for all their continued love, support and care of Kathleen. LASSERS MARTIN ISGRO Of Rochester Hills, passed suddenly on February 21, 2012 after a lifetime battle with diabetes. He is survived by his former wife Jo Isgro and their sons, Geoffrey Lassers (Jaime Cockerline) and Alexander Lassers (Christine Lassers); brother Harold Lassers (Pam); father Arthur Lassers (Fran Kipling); and his grandson Frederick Martin Lassers. He was an enthusiastic member of Toastmasters International District #28 and was an avid bicyclist. LIPINSKI ARTHUR PAUL Age 91, of Caseville, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Young Home for the Elderly in Warren. Art was born February 3, 1921 in Detroit to the late Frank and Martha (Grencz) Lipinski. He graduated from Detroit Northeastern High School in 1939. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. On November 11, 1944 he married Dolores Zmich at Barksdale Field Air Base in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dolores preceded him in death on July 27, 2010. After marrying, the family settled in Warren and there raised their family while Art worked as a dispatcher for the Detroit News. In 1985, he retired and moved to his home on Lake Huron in Lake Twp. He was an active member at St. Roch Catholic Church, serving in the choir and as an usher. Surviving are his children Paul of Royal Oak, Richard (Diane) of Sterling Heights, David (Debi) of California, Thomas (Paula) of Dryden and Karen (Al) Thornton of Warren; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and sisters Dorothy Gallo of Clinton Twp and Lorraine Frankowiak of St. Clair Shores. MARSZALEK ANNE JO Of Empire, was lifted to the next world on February 20, 2012 at her Empire home at the age of 64. Anne was a Registered Nurse and a Certified Nurse Practitioner in Pediatrics. She contributed to the lives of many people in her 41 year career including University Public School with Wayne State University and Children's Hospital of Michigan. Anne's life loved and cared for the health issues of all children in the community. She is predeceased by her son Jeffrey Marszalek in 1997, her father and mother Sidney and Helen Hiemstra of Grand Rapids. McGRAW RICHARD HEBERT, age 88, passed away February 13, 2012. He was born to Herbert and Marian McGraw in Detroit, Michigan. In 1943, he gained his wings as a naval aviator before becoming an F6F Hellcat fighter pilot and a member of the aircraft carrier USS Essex's "Fabled Fifteen" air group, which participated in many major air battles in the Pacific including the Marianas Turkey Shoot and battles in the Philippines and Leyte Gulf. For his efforts he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He married Mary Louise Kimball in 1945 at the Long Beach, California Naval Air Station. After the war, he graduated with a BA degree from Wayne University. He became CEO and President of Kimball & Russell, Inc., where he led the company for 50 years. He served on the Bloomfield Hills Board of Education from 1963-1969, serving as President for four of those years. He became President of the National Sash & Door Jobbers Association in 1971 and served on the planning commission for Tyrone Township. Dick was known by all to be a man of great integrity and ethics. He was an animal lover who is also remembered for his wit and sense of humor. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Louise; his brother Tom, and sister Mary (King-Christianson). His brother Jim predeceased him. He is survived by his four children: David, Darcey (Sevo), Stephen, and Brian; his eleven grandchildren: Margaret, Kristina, Laura, Erik, Erin, Alex, Julia, Sean, Whitney, Sloan, and Mackenzie; and four great-grandchildren: Evan, Miles, Quinn, and Sadie. McNARY WILLIAM RICHARD (DICK), 83, passed away in Naples, Florida on February 21, 2012. Dick was born in Detroit and was a lifelong resident of Union Lake, spending winters on Vanderbilt Beach. He was a graduate of Michigan State University and proud member of the U. S. Army Paratrooper Division. Dick founded McNary Agency in 1961 and was active in the company for over forty-five years. He was a life member at Meadowbrook Country Club and the Detroit Athletic Club.
