DOCTOR BERNADINE Died in University Hospital, Newark, New Jersey at age 70 on May 26, 2012. Born in Wyandotte, MI to the late Stella (Wisniewski) and Walter Katanski, she resided in Plainfield, NJ before moving to Watchung, NJ 12 years ago. A member of Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church in NJ, she retired as a dispatcher from Conrail in Detroit, MI and Newark, NJ. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Gregory Doctor; daughter MaryAnn (Michael) Gorski; grandson Michael Jacobs-Doctor; and sister Camille (Bob) Cichowlas. She is also survived by five other grandchildren, Joshua, Stefanie, Jeremy, Rachel, Sarah, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughters Tracie Jacobs (1998), and Susan Gillespie (1999), and granddaughter Ashley (2010). A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at St. Alfred Church 9500 Banner St. (Taylor). Interment Our Lady of Hope Cemetery (Brownstown). GARNER CHERILYNN Born 7/16/1959, reunited with our Lord 4/30/12 after a long illness. Preceding her in death were her parents Barbara and Wilfred Best. Survivors include sons Jarrid and Timothy, brother David (Janet) Best, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. GAZLAY FRANCIS PERSHING, 93, of Northville, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Presbyterian Village of Redford Michigan. Mr. Gazlay was born to Henry Johnstone Gazlay and Jesse Freer Gazlay on December 10, 1918 in Detroit. He attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Olivet College in 1942. The same year he married Elizabeth Pettitt Gazlay who survives him, and entered the United States Army Air Corps serving as a flight instructor during World War II. Returning to Detroit after the war he earned a Master's Degree in Education at Wayne State University and taught high school Economics and Social Studies in Detroit until his retirement. Moving to Northville in 1950, he became involved in civic and historical pursuits, serving on the City Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Historical District Commission. He was a charter member of the Northville Historical Society and a key player in the development of the Mill Race Historical Village. He is also survived by children Julie Lundstedt (Paul), Chris (Cheryl) Gazlay, Mark (Sherrie) Gazlay and Martha Conley (Michael). He enjoyed corresponding with twelve grandchildren and had thirteen great-grandchildren. His body was donated to Wayne State University and there will be no services. HARE SUSAN D. (ROBERTS, BASSETT) 64, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away Friday May 18, 2012. She is the daughter of Warren and Dorothy (Hobbins) Bassett, born June 23, 1947 in Plymouth, Michigan. She was a teacher and administrator in the Birmingham, MI, school system for 24 years.
