MONTPETIT GABRIEL 84, February 28, 2012. Memorial service 1 p.m. Sunday at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home in New Port Richey. He was born on June 2, 1927 in Michigan to Ralph and Blanche Montpetit. He served in the US Navy during WWII as a radar operator. After being discharged, he worked for the US Government as a Project Manager on M88A1 tank recovery vehicles. He was responsible for developing an automated computerized system for ordering repair parts for all tanks. This system proved so successful it was adopted by the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois. He retired in 1982. He is survived by his lovely bride of 61 years, Beatrice; sister, Anita Wildey; son, Donn; daughters Gaye (John) Burton, and Suzanne (Phillip) Kruse; grandsons, Jason and Sean Burton; granddaughter Krystle Burton; granddaughters Kelli (Derek) Gibbs, Aimee (Bobby) Burns, Brandee (Jason) Bianco, and Jennifer (Greg) Cadigan; great-grandchildren, Roman Burton, and Connor and Isabelle Burns. He was preceded in death by his son, Russ.

PANELLI JOHN suddenly March 2, 2012. Age 85 of Beverly Hills. Former Detroit Lion, Chicago Cardinal and Past President and founding member of the NFL Alumni Association. He was born in Morristown, New Jersey to Italian immigrant parents where he was the first person to be named All-State on the Morristown High School football team. After a year on scholarship at Cheshire Academy College Prep school in Connecticut where he won the "Mr. Cheshire" award for Athlete, Scholar and Gentleman, he received a scholarship to attend Notre Dame. He played on the 1946 and 1947 National Championship teams at fullback/ linebacker positions, winning the starting spot on the '47 and undefeated 1948 team. In 1948 he averaged 7.5 yards per carry his Senior Year, and was listed with Emil Sitko in Blue and Gold Illustrated's "Top 10 Notre Dame running Duo's" of all time. Sports Illustrated's Paul Zimmerman argued that those 1946 and 1947 Notre Dame teams in those highly competitive post war years should be considered the two best college football teams ever fielded. Panelli earned the Coffman award for Most Valuable Player in the East-West All-Star Classis in 1949 before becoming a first round draft choice for the Detroit Lions in 1949. John Played for the Lions as defensive linebacker in '49 and '50, then spent the following 3 years with the Chicago Cardinals. He was inducted into the Willie Heston Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1968, The Italian American Hall of Fame in 1995 and was awarded the "Unsung Heroes" Award by the All-American Football Foundation in 1997. He left the NFL to start J.R. Panelli Equipment Company, a construction equipment dealership in Southfield, Michigan, but stayed active in football as President of the Detroit Lions Alumni Association, and was a founding member and President of the National Football League Alumni Association. The NFL Alumni Association worked with NFL franchise owners to create a fund for pre -1960's players who were not pensioned, many of who were in financial difficulty. He was active in Notre Dame clubs serving as President of the Notre Dame Monogram Club, President of the Notre Dame Club of Detroit and was awarded the Notre Dame Club of Detroit's "Man of the Year" award. Golf was a major passion for John who was past president of the Birmingham Country Club and who, with his partner Bud Stevens, won the BCC invitational golf tournament an unprecedented 10 times. He was active in organizing celebrity Golf Tournament fundraisers including the NFL Alumni's "Super Bowl of Golf", and was active with the Saint Lewis Center - a charity for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. PARRINELLO FRANK September 3, 1921 - March 2, 2012. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Isabelle, his daughters, Joanne Holmes and Carol Rubus, and their husbands, David Holmes and Rodney Rubus. Born and raised in Detroit. Hard working, first generation American who survived the Great Depression, living off the foods peddled by his father, a fruit and vegetable peddlar. He and his father helped others in the neighborhood survive by delivering plates of spaghetti and vegetables to people in need. He, like many in that time, did not have the opportunity to finish school, but went on to serve his country honorably in W.W.II, get wounded, and receive a Purple Heart. He returned home partially disabled, but rehabilitated. He soon after went on to marry, and raise a family. He worked long, hard hours as an unskilled factory worker for Ford Motor Company, never taking a sick day. When laid off during the recession of the late 50's, he took home his tiny compensation and took on under the counter jobs delivering pizza in order to pay his family's bills and put food on the table. He saved to send his two daughters to college so that they could have the opportunities that eluded him. To that end, he was a great success. He was preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Deanna and Ricky Woods both of whom he adored. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Steve, Jim and Josephine Parrinello. RAYMOND JUSTINE MORAN Livonia and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida passed away peacefully after a brief illness on February 21, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband, the late Jerry Raymond, Esquire, her parents James and Marie Moran, her brother James Moran and her sister Anne Preston. Justine is survived by her beloved niece Pam Thompson (Dean), nephews Brian Moran (Judy), and Mike Moran, and many great- nieces and nephews, and many loving friends and family members. Justine will be remembered fondly by all who loved her for her love of life, her infectious laugh and her dedication to her family. She was considered by many to be lighthearted and "the life of the party". Justine served as a Board member on the Father Kern Foundation at Most Holy Trinity. She also served on the Wayne County Arts Council and was active at Madonna University and the Livonia Symphony for years. She will always have a special place in the hearts of her family and friends, and the members of the WWW Club in Livonia. Justine was very active in both local and national politics. ROBERTSON WOODY resident of Franklin Village, died February 11th. He was 78. Beginning with CBS in 1963, he dedicated his career to excellence in broadcast production; later partnering with Rosalind Lullove Cooperman to create September Moon Production Network, Inc. Working together for 23 years, the company earned National and International achievement awards. Following September Moon, Woody pursued independent production projects in a variety of areas. He is survived by two daughters, Penny (Paul ) Buechter and Cindy Heck, and three grandchildren; all of Indiana.
