They had shared a residence in Redford as well as a cottage in Irish Hills along with a condo in Florida. His sister Grace died in 2010, brothers John and Ernie in 2005, and sister Mae in 1984. His other married siblings who predeceased him were Laura (Toni Zaleski), Emma (Mickey Plisko), and Larry (Bernice) Pelot. SOVA MICHAEL J. "BIKER MIKE" Age 53, of Cheboygan, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Carpenter's Adult Foster Care Home in Cheboygan. A resident of the area since 1981, moving from Westland, Mike was born July 20, 1958 in Wayne, the son of Richard and Sheila (Fitzgerald) Sova. He was a 1984 graduate of the special education program at Inverness School, and was an excellent carpenter, taking pride in all of his Craftsman tools and ladders. One of Mike's greatest loves was riding his bike throughout Cheboygan County. He wore out many bikes over his thousands of miles of travel which included wintertime. Two of his bikes were presented to him by the Westland Police and Fire Departments for his caring and contributions to the city of Westland. He was also a very caring and giving man, always wanting to help everyone. His hobbies included riding his bike, visiting friends, helping local contractors and others in the community, bowling, playing softball, and swimming, snowmobiling, and cutting firewood. He was also a connoisseur of music and a great photographer. Mike was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and attended many games at Tiger Stadium and Comerica Park. He always looked forward to his birthday and made sure everyone knew when his birthday was, he also loved giving and receiving presents at Christmas. Mike would want everyone to remember him for all he did and everything he was, and he will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Surviving are his parents, Richard and Sheila Sova, a sister, Regina (Lawrence) Pennington, three brothers David (Kathy) Sova, Ken (Karen) Sova, and Dennis (Margaret) Sova, and nieces and nephews, Matthew Sova, Jennifer, and Jacqueline Pennington, and Danielle and Grant Schooley. He was preceded in death by a niece, Autumn Sova. He served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II He was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses and two Air Medals for valor. After military service he bravely served his City as a Police Officer, rising to the rank of Detective. His interest was in business and real estate and he enjoyed it until the end. He was a member of the Masons and Rotary. He was born and raised in Michigan, but he spent many happy years as a snowbird wintering in Florida. He leaves a loving family and a host of friends.
