MORILLO THOMAS HUTSON, JR. of Wayne, MI passed from this life on Oct. 5, 2012. He was born in Charleston, SC on July 18, 1949 to Ann Baughman Morillo Patrick and Thomas Hutson Morillo, Sr. The family moved to the Detroit area in the early fifties, and later to Grosse Ile.Tom spent his childhood there and attended Sacred Heart, and later attended Grosse Ile HS. He was a member of St. Mary's Church of Wayne, MI. He was pre-deceased by his father, Thomas Morillo Sr., His brother, Clif, sister, Bernadette, dearest grandson Brandon,Step-father, Pat Patrick. He leaves his children Miranda of San Diego ,CA, Ryan of San Antonio, TX, granddaughter, Kashia Miller of Murfreesboro, TN, Mother Ann Patrick of Charleston, SC, sister Mary Morillo of Redford, MI. He had been self employed as a millwright and electrician and had earned his universal HVAC license and an electronics technician certificate as part of his education that he pursued throughout his life. OJALA MELVIN "MEL" Age 75. Died peacefully on November 12, 2012, after three courageous battles with cancer. Mel was known for his kind demeanor, gentle compassion and loving heart. His example of living life as a generous soul was a gift to all those he touched. Mel is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Judith (Jaerling), daughter Tina (Vince) Minauro, step-daughter Tracy McClure (Mark), sister Arlene (Herbert) Hoxsey, brother Raymond (Patricia), grandchildren Michael and Tony and great grandson Tyler. Brother-in-law of Barbara (James dec.) Fortin, Peter (Linda) Jaerling, Christine dec. (Kevin) Gillen, and Suzanne (James) Gavin. Fondly known as Uncle Mel to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Special Uncle and Ultimate Caregiver to his nephew Jimmy Gavin. Mel's greatest gift to the world was his ability to think of others before himself. Mel was a devoted member and Eucharistic Minister at Saint Bonaventure Monastery in Detroit, Michigan. His deep faith and concern for others will be greatly remembered. Mel was proud of his Finnish heritage and was well respected for his expert workmanship in anything he pursued. His attention to detail was a key trait, especially when on the golf course or hunting wild game. He was a retired supervisor of Interior Design at Chrysler Corporation. A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 20th at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Bonaventure Monastery, 1740 Mount Elliott, Detroit, Michigan. POLLOCK GERALD DOUGLAS died on November 9 at the age of 79. He retained his calm, loving presence throughout his journey with Alzheimer's Disease. He is survived by his wife, Jeri Dause; his four children Jim Pollock, Helen Hoyseth (Rod), George Pollock (Lyle Halvorson ), and Matthew Pollock (Hiroko Naruse); his two step-children Michael Oliphant (Sherry Patheal) and Sarah Oliphant; his grandchildren Jonathon Oliphant, Jordan Hoyseth, Bradley Brown, Matthew Brown, and Kai Pollock; and his brothers Robert Pollock (Jean) and David Pollock (Elaine). He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Pollock. Gerry earned his BSc, MSc and PhD in geology from the University of Manitoba and Cal Tech. He had a very rewarding career in mineral exploration and work took him to many countries, especially in Latin America and Australia. He retired from Cameco as Vice President of Exploration. After retirement his love of the Spanish language led him to return to university to pursue Spanish courses. He studied Tai Chi and also taught it. He loved opera, classical music, and travel. Gerry remained a physically active man until shortly before his death. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man, accepting of all he met. Our time together was a blessing. A celebration of Gerry's life will take place at 1:30pm on November 30 at the First Unitarian Church of Victoria, 5575 West Saanich Road, Victoria Island, B.C.
