THOMAS CHARLES KALEEL

KALEEL THOMAS CHARLES Born June 26, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. Passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at Beaumont Hospital Grosse Pointe, following complications from pneumonia. He was 92. Thomas attended De LaSalle Collegiate High School and graduated with honors in 1937. At the young age of 16, "Tailspin Tommy" received his pilot's license, and flying would become one of his life's greatest passions. During WWII he enlisted in the United States Air Force, flew combat missions over much of Europe, and returned after the end of the war to fly relief missions during the Berlin Air Lift. He was also a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1966. In 1982, Tom became a member of VFW Bruce Post 1146 in St. Clair Shores, MI, where in 1988 he rose to the esteemed position of Post Commander. In recognition of his many years of faithful service to the VFW, he was awarded life emeritus status, and remained deeply committed to the VFW and thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of his fellow veterans. Tom retired as a service technician from MichCon in 1984, and was a longtime resident of St. Clair Shores, MI. Tom was well-known as a loving and devoted family man, loyal friend, and dedicated military veteran who deeply loved his country. He was a devout Roman Catholic of the Maronite rite, and prayers were an important part of his daily routine. A survivor of the great depression, he overcame many serious health issues in his youth, and went on to live a fulfilling, active, and healthy life into his early 90's. He is survived by his wife Sharon; three children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place from 2-9 p.m. on Friday, February 22nd at Kaul Funeral Home, located at 28433 Jefferson Avenue, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080; with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., and VFW honor guard at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23rd at St. Paul's on the Lake in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. Tom will be interred at Great Lakes National Veterans Cemetery in Holly, MI.

SATTERFIELD DAVID B. JR. Of Unadilla Twp., formerly Warren, Michigan Age 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at his daughter's home. He was born on December 24, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of David and Bertha (McNabb) Satterfield. He had worked for Cross Trekker as a hydraulic pipe fitter for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was discharged in December 1947. He enjoyed people, playing cards, The Farm, which he christened the Last Dollar Ranch, and his dog Molly. Surviving are two children, Monica (Glenn) English of Gregory and Patrick Satterfield of Eastpointe, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Antoinette M. (Szczurek) and a sister, Mildred McNiece. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge with Rev. Kathy Schell officiating. Mary will be remembered for her love of flowers, birds, cats, and especially children. She loved people and enjoyed talking to everyone she met. Mary was preceded in death by her mother Johanna. He worked as a payroll accountant for over 40 years at Ford Motor Company and Visteon. He finally retired in January of 2012. Jim was a devoted husband to Carla (Lenhoff) and proud father of James C. Forgacs III (Vicky) and Adam Kenneth Forgacs (Megan). He is also survived by his twin brother Tom, sister Barb Stutesman (Ernie) and Michael Forgacs (Hericelda) and many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
