Age 96, March 8, 2007. Beloved husband of the late Lillian. Dear father of Kathleen Ryan, Nancy Rhoden (Darrell), Harold M. Jr. (Ruth Ann), John (Karen) and Theresa Sikora (Ralph). Grandfather of Sam, Rebecca, Matthew, Andrea, Joseph, Grace, Brian, Adam, Rachel and the late Timothy. Judge Ryan's Public service has spanned over 60 years, serving the public in numerous positions, including assistant attorney from 1944-1946; Michigan State Senator for 14 years 1949-1962, 6 of those years as Senate Minority Leader; U.S. Congressman from 1961-1965; Wayne Country Circuit Court Judge from 1976-1985 and Visiting Circuit Court Judge from 1986-2005. Judge Ryan is a Michigan educated man. He attended Farris State College, Michigan State College, and graduated from the University of Detroit with a law degree in 1935. An athlete, he played football at Michigan State College. While attending the University of Detroit he established new records as a member of the Titan Track Team and was inducted into the Titan Hall of Fame. He was a man devoted to his family, his faith, and dedicated to the service of the people of Michigan. Visitation 2-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Rosary 7 p.m. Sunday. In state at St. Margaret Church, 21201 Thirteen Mile, St. Clair Shores, 9:30 a.m. Monday until Mass at 10 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
