ZMARZLIK CHESTER J. Died on August 21, 2010 at the age of 62. He graduated from Hamtramck High School in 1965 and never left the family home of Yemans Street. He was truly a life-long Hamtramckan. After high school graduation, he served two years in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Julian in 1995, his brother Henry in 2002, and most recently his mother Anna on May 5, 2010. Surviving him are his brother, Julian of Posen, MI, his sisters, Catherine Warminski of Long Lake (Alpena), MI, Carol Thomas of Los Angeles, CA, and Eve and Chet's only brother-in-law, Barry Loper of Lansing, MI. He also leaves behind his loving aunt, Olga Zmarzlik of Sterling Heights, MI and his most beloved companion and true love of 13 years, Christine Desnoyer of Royal Oak, MI. And not to be forgotten, Chet's foster son, Osman Sarmiento of Honduras (Child Fund International), nephew, Steven Zmarzlik (Margaret) of North Dakota, and his great nephew, Noah Zmarzlik, and nephew, Kevin (Jennifer) and niece Wanda. Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck (Doc Ted and Carolyn) was his home away from home. He was the proud God-father of Carl, Doc Matt's and Rachel Wietrzykowski's son. Chet's other favorite "haunts" were the PLAV Posts in Hamtramck. That's where he was so fortunate to meet some of his best friends, among them being Tipsy, Tunes, Tina, DJ Bob, Sugar Bear, Joey "McDokes" Glowacki, Big Jerry and his "Mafsous", Moussa and Toma. Mention must also be made of his "extended family" Cas and Anna Brodak, and the Perlik family, and his co-workers at Flex Slotter Co. where Chet was employed for nearly 40 years. There were so many others too numerous to mention. Visitation Wednesday 2-9 p.m., Parish Scripture Wednesday 7 p.m. Funeral service Thursday 10:15 a.m. at Krot Funeral Home, 2687 Caniff, Hamtramck, (313-365-5240). Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 11 a.m. at St. Florian Church. The family requests no flowers. If you wish to memorialize "Chester", please make contributions to St. Florian Church in Hamtramck or to the American Cancer Society. Chet will be buried in Posen, MI at St. Casimir's Cemetery, Saturday, August 28th, 1:30 p.m. next to his parents and brother, Henry...where as Chet would say, "Everything's cool."

To the Zmarzlik Family, I am so sorry for your loss and am truly sorry that I am unable to attend the services. My thought and prayers are with all of you at this time. God bless all of you and may you find peace at this time.
To my dear neighbors, Chet will be missed but not forgotten. Make he rest in peace.
Chet will be forever remembered in my heart. As a young boy, he was a part of my life that I will never forget. Last time we met was at my grandmother "Blondie's" funeral in June 2009. Rest in peace my friend.....Johnny
Good bye Chester. See you up there. Michal
