CARNAGO GERALD J. 80 years old, passed away suddenly on December 22, 2011 doing what he loved, playing tennis with his friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend for 51 years, Gloria. Loving father to Timothy Carnago, Kathryn (David) Lefere, and Gregory (Jayne) Carnago. He was so proud of his eleven grandchildren, Kevin (Lisa) Carnago, Stephanie (Robert) Kirklin, Robert Carnago, Josephine, Kyle, Dominic and Mary Kathryn Lefere, Maria, Michelle, Gina, and Jerry Carnago. Up until his death, Jerry continued to practice full time as a licensed attorney and CPA. For over 50 years Jerry believed in the philosophy that the only difference between work and recreation was which activity you prefer doing; and he loved doing both. A huge promoter of education, he graduated from De LaSalle High School and from the University of Detroit. An Army Veteran, he followed that up by attending the Detroit College of Law and soon after became a licensed C.P.A. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 26, from noon-4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills with a Rosary said at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Colman Catholic Church in Farmington Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Miles Christi Society or to De LaSalle High School.

Dear Carnego family, I am Jerome (Jerry) Tobin's daughter. I remember my father speaking so highly and fondly of his good friend, Mr. Carnego. I was sorry to read of his passing. I know you will miss him very much. May God grant you peace in your time of sorrow. Tamra Tobin Teno
Since my being one of Jerry's taxation class students as a DIT'61 alum -- and my accounting apprenticeship began with Wilson & Carnago 1960-61 in the Guardian Building -- this past year, I plus a fellow friend (from that suite #1951) enjoyed lunch reminiscing with Jerry. We're honored to have known him.
