WELDAY DONALD F. April 12, 2012. Age 82. Beloved husband of Barbara. Dearest father to Paul (Valerie), Douglas (Cheryl), Mary Urick and Patricia (Wes) Graff. Loving grandfather to Julie (Jim) Welch, Jennifer (Nicholas) Blum, Matthew Urick, Nick Welday, Amanda Graff, Jacqueline Welday, Hannah Graff and Natalie Anne Welday. Great-grandfather to Zachary Blum. Don was born March 18, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Anne N. and Donald F. Welday, Sr. He grew up in Southwest Detroit living on Sharon St. with his parents, his Aunt Sylvia and cousin, Patricia. A 1948 graduate of Western High School, he went on to graduate from Albion College and the University of Michigan Law School where he received his J.D. in 1954. He served as Assistant U.S. Attorney before entering the private practice of law with his father where he successfully argued a case before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1965. He capped his professional career as Sr. Vice President and General Counsel for Real Estate One. Upon retirement he and Barbara settled in his beloved St. Petersburg, Florida. Don was a smart, kind and witty guy who loved the law, his cottage on Lake Chemung, the view from the porch in St. Pete and most of all, his family. He will be deeply missed by all. Visitation is Sunday, 5-7 p.m. and Monday, 2-8 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Thayer Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Ave., Farmington, Michigan. I practiced law with Don more than 36 years ago. He was a fine man and a colleague with great integrity. I'm sure that his family will miss him greatly. My sincere condolences on his passing. Dave Molitz
