PATTERSON BENJAMIN G. "THE HOOK" Age 88, of Linden, died peacefully in the arms of Jesus, Saturday, June 30, 2012. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Fr. David Harvey celebrating. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Those desiring may make contributions to Detroit Firefighters Association. Ben married the love of his life, Dolores M. Hoxey, who preceded him in death 12 years ago. They were blessed with eight children, Mary Ann (deceased), Cecilia (Lenny), Suzanne (Dean), Kevin, Brian, Colleen (Rick), Carolyn (David) and Timothy. Also, 19 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Ben was a Detroit Firefighter from 1951-1983, retiring as captain and acting chief.
