LYNCH RHEA KAY (NEE SCOGGIN) passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Rhea was born in Detroit, Michigan to Edward and Gretta (Fisher) Renshaw on January 9, 1938. Rhea was a graduate of Detroit Mackenzie High School in 1956. She then attended Hillsdale College where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1958, Rhea married James R. Scoggin of Detroit. Jim preceded Rhea in death in October of 1997. Together they lived in Howell and had three children, James T. (Cynthia Fowler), Patrick F. (Christine Huntington) and Wendy L. (John Lichtenwalter) with nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Patrick and Travis Scoggin; Samantha, Alissa, Tyler and Casey Scoggin; and James and Jake Lichtenwalter. After staying at home to raise children for the first several years of their marriage, Rhea returned to Eastern Michigan University to get her Master's degree in Business Education. She taught business classes and managed the high school co-op program in the Howell Public School System for 25 years. After her husband's death in 1997, Rhea relocated to Naples, Florida. She was active in several charitable and social organizations. Rhea was very involved with First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs where she frequently volunteered. She enjoyed working in the Church's Thrift Shop, helping with Vacation Bible School registrations and going to various assisted living communities to give communion. Rhea also volunteered at the NCH North Naples Hospital. After her first battle with cancer in 1982, she became active with the American Cancer Society's Reach for Recovery program, which assisted patients immediately following surgery. She worked throughout her retirement years in the concierge's office of the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Naples, Florida. In her "spare time" Rhea enjoyed reading, shopping, helping others and especially visiting her children and grandchildren in Michigan and Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on Rhea's behalf to the Avow Hospice, 1095 Whipporwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105 (239) 261-4404 or American Cancer Society, P.O. Rhea was such a big part of my life in high school - and Jim, too! I have wonderful memories of her smile and laughter - and even the firm "LADIES.....". She gave a lot and will always be remembered!
