Margine taught both my children as they passed through Berkley High School several years ago. She was a great asset to the school and had a positive influence on many students there. I knew her when I worked at BHS and I can say I never saw her have a bad day. She was always happy. My sympathy to all her friends and family.

Margine was my neighbor growing up in Detroit. Our families were very close. My memories of having grown up next door with a gate that went directly to her yard! Lydia you are in our thoughts. Margine was a very gifted person that I looked up to as a child.

I met Margine in 1970. I was a girl scout then just learning to play the guitar. When I arrived at Mercy High School in 1971 I was surprised to find that she was there which made high school that much more fun. She convinced me that Sr. Timothy LIKED to be called Sarge (I found out that this was not true). She also taught me several songs on the guitar which has kept me entertained for years. I will remember her passion for music, her commitment to justice and her contagious smile. The world is better because she was in it. Thank you universe for sharing her.

Alexis Crow08/26/2012

Lydia and family, my condolences on your loss of such a talented, loving and well loved soul. She truly was one of a kind... She fought hard in her teens/ early twenties to find her place, create her music and stand her ground against odds. We lost touch after I moved to SF at 30 but will always remember our adventures in high school and summers home from college. I just thought of her last week, out of the blue, which makes me think she is out there watching over us. Lydia, and family, cherish your memories

When I worked with her at Berkley High School, I was always amazed by her ability to empathize with the students that she taught. Margine was a gift to all of the Berkley family. Margine was a "teen" whisperer, and she will be missed. I pray for her family in their loss.
