WATERS MARY ELLEN, age 66, October 11, 2012. Mary was born on January 16, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Jane and Ralph Goniea. She is survived by her daughters, Marlena and Erica Stephens, and brothers, Gerald and Peter Goniea. Mary earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1972 and Master of Arts degree in 1978 both from Wayne State University. She dedicated 30 years of her career to the Detroit Institute of Arts. Mary was a lifelong artist, skilled in drawing, painting, sculpture, stained glass, and ceramics. Later, she shared her creative talents as an enthusiastic art teacher in both Romeo and L'Anse Creuse school districts. Mary's vigor for life, creativity, and compassion will be greatly missed by us all. Visitation Sunday 1-8 p.m. and service Monday 11 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Rd. Mary, my friend. You have always been like family to us. We shared alot of fun times on Lappin Street. I had the joy of watching your daughters, Marlena & Eric, while you worked at the DIA. You were always there for me, when I needed a favor. You are a beautiful,compassionate person. Now,I have another Angel in heaven to pray to. I will miss you, but will never forget you!
