FRANKEL REMA SCHULIST pakssed away four days after successfully reaching her goal of turning 100. She was on dialysis for 8 years and never complained. Rema volunteered at the Detroit Institute of Arts for 27 years. She was extremely competitive at card games and played bridge until earlier this year. Rema enjoyed snow skiing with her late husband Ivan, until she turned eighty. Rema loved the arts and was a patron at the Michigan Opera Theatre, Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Detroit Institute of Arts. Rema is survived by daughter Marjorie Riley of Burlington, Vermont; grandchildren Blake (Joana) Gavin and Nicole Gavin, great grandson Jacob Gavin; sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara Frankel and Ronald Michalak, Ann Raskin, Herman and Sharon Frankel, Bette Borin and countless nieces, nephews and friends. Rema was the wife of the late Ivan Frankel, mother to late son James Frankel, sister to the late Bud Schulist and the late Jone Schultz. Donations to Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, The Michigan Opera Theatre or charity of one's choice. Private Family Services were held. I knew Rema as we volunteered at the same time at the DIA. She was always so beautiful and gracious, a very special lady.She will be missed.
