PFEIFLE THOMAS F., SR. Age 78, passed away with his family due to heart disease on October 9th, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital, in Wilmington, DE. Tom was born July 18th, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan to John and Virginia Pfeifle. Tom graduated from Grosse Pointe High School and went to the University of Wisconsin on a football scholarship until suffering a knee injury in his sophomore year. He transferred to Western Michigan University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration and where he met the love of his life, and future wife, Sonja Sue Axtell. Tom started his career at the Ford Motor company where he was Account Manager in its parts services business. He later joined the Maritz Company where he earned several accolades including being the company's top performing Area Sales Manager for over 30 years. His line of work ensured he traveled the world and his favorite destination was Paris, France where he developed a connoisseur's palate and lifelong passion for fine red wine. In his spare time he also owned the Bay Window Restaurant and Theatre in Caseville, MI. Tom's most important role in life was being a dad. Having grown up without a father he ensured that he was a provider, mentor, and ultimately a best friend to his children. His love of family and life extended to all who knew him. Tom is survived by his sons, John and Daniel and their wives, Teresa and Elizabeth, daughter in-law Jean Pfeifle, grandchildren, Daniel, Jennifer, Kate, Nicole, Tess, Grace, Alexander and Maxwell, and great-grandchild Cody. He was preceded in death by his wife Sonja, daughter Penny, and son Thomas Jr. A memorial luncheon will be held from 12-3 p.m. on Friday, October 26 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial in the Alger House.
