SELTZER IRENE G., age 86, of Kerby, Oregon died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Three Rivers Medical Center. No services are planned. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. Irene was born November 3, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. She was educated in Michigan and worked as an elementary teacher in the Catholic school system. On December 27, 1945 in Detroit she married Ralph Seltzer. When Ralph's job relocated them, they moved to California where they lived for nine years during which Irene pursued a nursing career. They moved to Selma, Oregon where they owned and operated Great Oak Vineyard. After retirement, they sold the vineyard and winery and moved to Kerby, Oregon in 1996. Irene especially enjoyed traveling including trips to Europe, Japan, South America, and Africa. She also loved to read from her large personal library. Irene is survived by her husband, Ralph Seltzer of Kerby, Oregon; two sons, Andrew T. Seltzer of Los Angeles, California and Martin L. Seltzer of Detroit, Michigan; four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Daniel Seltzer and Suzanne Seltzer.
