RASPBERRY JIMMIE C. Age 91, November 9, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Cleo Raspberry for 45 years. Dear father of Kennith Raspberry, Rose Raspberry-Fisher and Lisa Raspberry, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Jimmie worked for Ford Motor Company (1942- 1974) as a Bargaining Committeeman and for the City of Romulus (1955-1997), elected in 1955 as Romulus Township Constable and later appointed to police officer. Elected 1961 Township Trustee and used his leadership to help Romulus become a city on May 25, 1970. Best know as the "Peoples Man" blazed many trails for others to follow. Jimmie was the first black political official for the City of Romulus and was honored with a local park being named after him on July 29, 2000. Visitation Friday, November 16, 2012 from 3-8 p.m. at Husband Family Funeral Home, 2401 S. Wayne Rd., MI 48186. Funeral Saturday, November 17, 2012; Family hour 10:30am, Service 11 am at Pleasant Valley A.M.E. Church, 45620 Victoria Ave., Belleville, MI 48111. Burial Romulus Cemetery.
