KEHOE JOSEPH CLARK, DDS, MS, CAPTAIN USN (retired), died November 10, 2012 at the beach home he and his family built together with their own hands. He was 77. Dr. Kehoe, an Endodontist, earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1957. Following graduation from Officer's Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, Dr. Kehoe received his commission and served as Executive Officer aboard the USS Launcher (YV-2) based in Little Creek, Virginia. Dr. Kehoe continued to serve in the US Navy reserve while earning his dental degree from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1965. Upon graduation, Dr. Kehoe resumed active duty status and served with distinction in the US Navy Dental Corp until his retirement in 1982. During his service, he completed a two-year residency in Endodontics at the Naval Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland, and a Masters of Science in Dental Education from George Washington University. On reflection of his Naval career, he admired the honesty and talent of his fellow members of the Navy Dental Corp. After his military career, Dr. Kehoe worked as a dental educator and administrator at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, retiring as Associate Professor Emeritus in 1996. He felt it was a privilege to instruct and guide the fine dental students he met as they trained and graduated from the university. In private practice for nearly 10 years thereafter, Dr. Kehoe served the people of Rockland, Maine and the Maine coast, attributing much of his success to the splendid character of his patients, friends and neighbors. Joseph was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Often described as "honesty and clarity meets action," he lived and taught by example. His counsel, personal or professional, was highly-sought. Born March 8, 1935 in Conneaut, Ohio to William Kehoe and Emma Elizabeth Clark, Joseph continued to speak with his childhood friends throughout his life and career. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon Lee Kehoe (Presson); children Kevin Lee Kehoe, Sara Beth Mallard (Damian) and Matthew Clark Kehoe (Emily) and; grandchildren Shannon Lee, Hailey Mary and Calene Berkley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mayo Clinic, 4500 San Pablo Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32224. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, St. Augustine, Florida.
