Charles was a staunch supporter of the NAACP at the University of Detroit.
Dr. Cotman was one of my professors at UD in 1968. Because of his scholarly presentation, I decided to become a teacher and copied much of his approach. He was a paragon of knowledge and thought provoking. Needless to say, Dr. Cotman's legacy will be continued in me and all of my students. With much reference and respect, Al Nelson
I found out rather late about the passing of Dr. Cotman. I was a former student of his at UD in 1968. Great guy, dynamic personality. He will be missed.
I discvovered Charles' passing late. he was a former professor of mine at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit in the 1970's.Always a superb educator, staunch Catholic, and true lover of human rights,Charles was a true friend and confidant. His rapier-like wit will be remembered and missed! He was trully a sui generis.
I just learned today of Charles' death. I worked in Lansing in the early 80's and Charles and I were close friends. He was always insightful and delightful to socialize with. God rest his soul.
