BIONDO SALVATORE Age 89. Passed away on February 13th, 2013. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 29th, 1923, to the late John and Vita (Vitale) Biondo. He is preceded in death by his beloved, devoted wife Lillian Biondo (Olesky), brother Fred Biando, sister Mona Mazzola (Biondo), and son John Biondo. He is survived by his sister Katherine Kuretich (Biondo), daughter Christine (Robert) Phillips, son Samuel (Mary Jo) Biondo, daughter Bonita Mester, and son Joseph (Terese) Biondo; grandchildren Annie, Robbie, Melissa, Angie, Alan (Amy), Amanda (Tony), Sean (Marisa), Lisa, John (Lori), Kristin (Christopher), Holly, Noelle (Mark), Hannah, Sarah, and Joshua; great-grandchildren Kyle, Bianca, Jessica, Clayton, Jacob, Cierrah, Marissa, Aiden, Allison, Elaina, Aubrie, Nathanial, Megan, Addison; great-great-grandson Lucas, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A World War II decorated veteran of the Navy, Salvatore served in the Pacific theater on Submarine Chaser SC736, where he achieved the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate, First Class. He was employed for many years and retired from Soley Tool and Die at the age of 65. He was an avid Tigers and Lions fan, an auto dismantler extraordinaire, and a connoisseur of non-ferrous metals (aluminum). Salvatore lived an exemplary life of service to his family and his country, providing for all with selflessness. He always put the needs of others ahead of his own. Visitation will be Friday 2-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Sterling Heights Chapel of the E.J. Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors, Inc., 3801 18 Mile Road (NW corner of Ryan). Funeral Mass Saturday 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 4257 Bart Avenue, Warren, MI. Salvatore will lie in state at 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
