STELLA JENE. In the early hours of July 30th Jene Stella politely declined the advice of the poet and did go gentle into that Good Night. She was 86. Born Naomi Jene Carvel, she lived her early years in Oklahoma. In 1945 she moved to Detroit where she began her career with Michigan Bell. In 1951 she married Alfiero (Fred) Stella. In her later years she joined the family business, F.D. Stella Products. In 2003 she moved to Grand Rapids. Jene was preceded in death by her husband in 1982 and her brothers, John Carvel and Lee Carvel in years following. She leaves behind her elder son, Frederick and daughter-in-law, Teresa (Thome) and younger son, Mark John Stella along with many nieces and nephews who will miss the bright light that she brought with her into most every room. A memorial service will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rotunda Chapel on Saturday, August 17. Silent meditation at 10 a.m, the ceremony beginning at 10:30. Gifts to Interfaith Dialogue Association or Spectrum Hospice are appreciated.
