"JIMMIE" of Detroit, formerly of Franklin, TN; age 81; December 15, 2005. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Carey Beal Morton; sons Maurice B. Morton of Waterford, MI and Michael J. Morton of Detroit; sisters Francis Burns, Azalee Jones and Margaret (Robert) Dixon of Franklin, TN and Bessie Jones and Peggy Hamilton of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law Louise Beal Patton; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Maj. Morton was a veteran World War II, serving in Alaska, Guam and other Pacific Islands. During the Korean War he served as a platoon leader in the 25th Inf. Div., for which he later received a battlefield commission. He retired from the Army in 1968, after 27 years of service. He then joined Detroit's Bank of the Commonwealth, which later became Comerica Bank. He retired from Comerica in 1992. He was a life member of Pontiac VFW Post 1370. He was also a member of the American Legion, Kiwanis, Lions and the Foursomes Golf Club. There will be a viewing at Barksdale Funeral Home, 1120 E. State Fair St. Detroit, MI, Tuesday Dec. 27th, from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral will be held at 11am on Thursday Dec 29th at 1st Missionary Baptist Church, 113 Natchez St. in Franklin, TN.
